Alienware now gives you the option of sticking both a 64GB SSD as well as an additional 200GB platter-based hard drive into their top-of-the-line laptop, delivering the benefits of running a computer off an SSD (less power consumption, faster startup, etc) with the higher storage of traditional hard drives. It's not the first laptop with a SSD that large (Toshiba beat them to that), but it is the first to feature both types of drives in one laptop. The option is available now on the Area 51 m9750 for a nice $1,150 extra on top of whatever other crazy crap you decide to load their highest-end portable with. [Product Page]

...except the weight loss is gone.
I really wish I would have gone with Alien Ware 2 and 1/2 years ago when I got my new lap top instead of Widow PC - for all the awards Widow gets my lap top has been AWFUL.
SSD = Massively Big ReadyBoost
@Wingman: Dude, your problem is "Windows" not "Widow" ;-)
Seriously, throw Ubuntu/Kubuntu onto even the crappiest laptop and it screams (in a good way).
@Windhawk: Not like the MacBooks that made mooing sounds?
Uh...no, it's not the first laptop with both SSD and standard HDD. The Vaio TZ was there first.
Ohh...pretty! That thing desperately needs a Bat symbol on it!
I've kinda followed Alienware's product line since I first heard of them 5 years ago. I read some pretty awful stuff about their customer service, though, and have been waiting to hear better stuff before planning to purchase from them. It must be nice to have some 8000$ Alienware laptop to game on - pity I can't bring myself to do something like that given I can build the SAME specs (even better) into a desktop model for under 2000$
