Verizon Visual Voicemail Hits LG Voyager, Sadly Not Free

Sorry to get everyone's hope up—the rumor that VZW's visual voicemail was to be gratis apparently only referred to the app download. To actually use the service, it'll cost you $2.99/month per line, plus data and airtime charges, to hold up to 40 messages for 40 days. It's only available for LG Voyager owners at the moment, but more phones are surely to follow. Hit the download here, and read on for full details. More »

Verizon Visual Voicemail to Be Free For Supported Phones?

Eagle-eyed spotters recently took note of a few visual voicemail tidbits inadvertently pushed live on Verizon's site (now removed), most notably that the service will potentially be free. The site is down now so this remains in the rumor department (where are the screenshots, guys?), but if true, the reports go against what we all assumed penny-pinching Verizon would do. The only phone model listed on the leaked site was the refreshed Voyager, which jibes with what we've heard previously. [Verizon (dead) via Phone Arena]

First Pics of LG Netflix Blu-ray BD300 Player

LG's Netflix-streaming, Blu-ray 2.0 playing BD300 made its public debut tonight, and we're impressed. The box is slim and it won't take up more space on your shelf than any other player. An LG exec confirmed a September launch for the sub-$500 player, so check out the gallery and start lickin' your chops. [LG]

Nokia Slashes Cellphone Prices as Much as 10%

Trying to put pressure on their competition, or feeling the pressure from increasing Samsung and LG market share, Nokia has reduced many handset prices by 10%—mostly music and media phones—but also making discounts across the whole portfolio. Analyst and Sean Connery-fan David Hallden calls the move a Crazy Ivan: More »

LG BD300 Is First Blu-ray Player With Built-in Netflix Streaming

We've been waiting for this since January: LG's promised Blu-ray player with built-in Netflix movie streaming is official. Available this fall for "well under $500," the BD300 is the third major box Netflix has invaded with its unlimited streaming service offering over 12,000 titles. More »

LG Seizes Bikini Phone As Opportunity To Put Models in Bikinis

What a brilliant idea by someone at LG to name their KF600—a phone we've covered before—the Bikini. What better way can you think of, besides more money, to convince your models to pose in Bikinis? None. None better. Just when we thought Samsung had the upper hand on shoehorning Korean ladies into product photos, LG goes and takes it to another level. Will we see a subsequent "Samsung Topless" retaliation? Can we, please? More »

LG Chocolate 3 Gets Release Date Moved up

Last week we told you that the upcoming LG Chocolate 3 was going to be available July 14th: Verizon have just come up with the news that it'll be available a day earlier, July 13. They're pretty proud of the candybar phone's Verizon Rhapsody interlink, and the "all-in-one" nature of the gizmo as a PMP, cellphone, GPS navigator, camera and car-stereo FM source. It'll be available in black or light blue, for $129.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate at Verizon Communications Stores (including Circuit City branches.) Press release below. More »

LG Projector Phone Is Like a Media-Throwing Web Shooter

The winner of LG's next phone design challenge has been announced—and by the looks of things, it appears that Spider-Man's web shooter was a major source of inspiration. The device is actually a pen-shaped cellphone/mobile projector that can throw images, video and other information on the back of the user's hand when mounted on a wrist strap. I'm not sure if LG still plans on manufacturing the winning concept phone, but slinging a mini or pico projector image around like a web shooter has definite geek appeal. UPDATE: This phone concept is actually a runner up. Hopefully we will know more about the winning entry from designer Dave Schultze soon. More »

LG Chocolate 3 Arriving July 14th

The new LG Chocolate has finally gotten a firm release date—it will go on sale July 14th to Verizon Wireless customers. Remember, this Chocolate is a lot different from LG's candybars of old. It's actually a clamshell with a small, 1.76" touchscreen on the outside and larger 2.22" normal screen on the inside. It features a 2MP camera and stores your media on 1GB of internal memory expandable to 9GB by 8GB microSDHC. Expect to pay $299 at full retail price or $129 with a 2-year contract. [phonearena]

LG Getting New KC910 As Flagship Phone With Killer Camera Features

There's apparently a new touchscreen handset from LG on the way, and early word is that it's slated to be the Korean phone maker's new flagship phone. So far known as the KC910, it appears to be more camera than phone, shooting at 8-megapixels with a real Xenon flash, face detection, image stabilization and a 480p camcorder function, which is worth noting. It also supposedly has an 800x480 resolution screen, which means it can show 16:9 movies with no cropping, all in a form factor a little over half an inch thick. If they can throw in a few other high-end features like Wi-Fi and a good browser then this handset could out-media the iPhone and be a real challenger, but we're holding our judgment till we've seen it in action. AT&T 2008 Smartphone Roadmap Leaked

Believe it or not, AT&T actually does have other smartphones coming this year besides the iPhone 3G and BlackBerry Bold. Four sequel-y Windows Mobile phones all slated for winter, and 6.1 updates for existing ones. Besides the Pantech Tech Duo 2, there's the BlackJack 3 (with a better cam and a little faster hardware), Tilt 2 (Update: BGR says Tilt 2 is probably the Touch Pro), and another unnamed Sammy, possibly the Omnia. There's also a "non-QWERTY" LG phone of some sort and a Wi-Fi version of the Curve (8320). Since these are all smartphones, we're guessing there's another consumer roadmap. [Gear Diary]

Verizon's LG Dare Full Review (Verdict: Best iClone Yet)

"Dare to be different," the saying goes, but the LG Dare is really Verizon Wireless's attempt to fit in, to offer a phone that's more like the AT&T LG Vu and Sprint Samsung Instinct, not to mention Apple's similarly priced iPhone 3G. The truth is, the Dare may not be as glamorous or well-priced as the Instinct, but it has a better browser, a motion sensor and some cool software tricks that make it a fine phone for people who choose to remain in Verizon's walled garden. And it puts Verizon's previous iClone attempts, the LG Voyager and the Samsung Glyde, to lowdown dirty shame. More »

Verizon Gets Rhapsody Subscriptions, DRM-Free Downloads

Verizon customers with certain VCAST phones have some new options for buying music, thanks to Rhapsody. First off, the $15 per month, all-the-songs-you-can-guzzle subscription service is offered on LG's Decoy and Dare, Moto's W755 and Samsung's SCH-u550, Glyde, and Juke, and will be available for the Chocolate 3 when it's out. Also, $2 over-the-air download tracks now come with a DRM-free MP3 version that you can snag on your computer with VCAST/Rhapsody software. If you can hold your horses and wait till you're on a PC to download, DRM-free tracks are yours for a buck, which can be sideloaded onto the phone like usual. Press release after the jump.
