TechEBlog's editors have put together a list of the top five creative uses for the somewhat underexposed Mac mini. While I suppose they're all creative, one of them is pretty useless, so it'd probably be more apt to call it the top four creative uses for the Mac Mini, since the word "use" implies that it has some sort of purpose.
The DVR setup is actually how I imagined the mini would catch on when it first launched, given its pint size and processing power, but it didn't exactly explode on to the scene the way I had expected, either. The list:
- Mac mini DVR
- Mobile mini (a mini on wheels and my nominee for totally useless)
- Mac Prius (cool)
- UMPC mini (awesome)
- DeLorean mini (too geeky for me)

I stuffed mine into an old Mac Plus case, with 8" LCD display and touch screen. The display doubles as a TV, so this is now my kitchen computer. Took it to the local Apple Store last night, and even the they thought it was kewl.
That DVR setup rocks. So maticulous. As for the DeLorean... yes, yes. We're all impressed that you have a 25 year old vanity car.
As always, my personal pick for the Mini is my own install in my Mustang (see profile)...but the Prius install was one of the first (the first) to get the FrontRow working w/ a Touch Screen monitor.
I would sell whats left of my soul for a Delorean, that car PWNZ ALL
If it can travel time I'll take it!
I never understood why people thought the Mac Mini would be a popular entertainment system device. Sure it COULD be done, but mom and dad and Joe Schmo aint gonna want to deal with that stuff. This is why TiVo is popular and why Apple TV could be.
But more on the topic, nice mobile mini use- except it looks kinda crappy poking out of the dash like that. Eh, what do I know.
mac OS.....touchscreen......car. shiny shiny.
if it had an AMD processor and built-in sprint mobile WiMax, with an app to remote-control an ic502, it would be teh pwn. i'm such a fanboy.

First Smart ForTwo car with "Mac Mini"
TouchScreen
MBQuartz Speakers
RockFord Fosgate Amp.
DeLorean mini (too geeky for me)
Yea right.
I still won't watch Back to the Future.
The installer for the PVR set-up needs some recognition. If that was a for-hire job, I'd tip. I would have put that one at No. 1 simply because it doesn't look half-assed.
They work well as Frisbees too! At least once.
I still haven't seen any of the Back to the Future movies. Have i not lived? but on the Honda the screen ought to be a bit more responsive, possibly put a touch pad like the tablet MacBookPro guy?
The guy who did the Prius Mac actually fixed the squeal problem back in June...
He's documented most of the construction/integration and testing phases on his website at http://www.kusnetz.net/prius/
You can also download an ActionScript for Touchscreen->serial to run on your Mac should you choose to install it in your Prius.
