Things I Wish the $300 iHome iP1 Did Beyond Playing Music

The iHome iP1 is, unquestionably, iHome's best attempt at building a quality iPod dock yet. But I shudder to think it's a $300 machine. And if you care to know why, read on in my somewhat unconventional, completely self-indulgent review. More »

    Sony Ericsson Paris Slider Leaked?

We don't have many details of this Sony Ericsson smartphone called the "Paris", but se-nse.net claims that it's a slider, runs Symbian UIQ 3.3 and has quite a large screen. Below the screen will be a P1-style keyboard, meaning two letters per key. That's pretty much all we know, except for a supposed May announcement and September release. That weather widget looks pretty similar to the one in OS X Dashboard if you ask us. Which you did. We heard you! [Se-nse]

Sony Ericsson P1 Smartphone Reviewed (Verdict: Worthy Successor to the P990)

We've been eyeballing the Sony Ericsson P1 smartphone for a while now, but the reviews are finally in. The verdict? It's pretty good. Besides being smaller than its P990 predecessor, it has the hybrid QWERTY keyboard (which is actually comfortable to use), a pretty decent 3-megapixel camera and a bunch of extras best fit for a spec sheet list than a review. Sony Ericsson P1i Smartphone (the Eagerly Awaited P990 Successor) Video Overview

If you were intrigued by the Sony Ericsson P1 we told you about last week, here's a video preview of the device. It's a good walkthrough if you were wondering how the phone looks in the size of a normal person's hands, assuming Jens Greve has normal-sized hands. More »

Sony Ericsson P1 Follows Up P990 By Going 25% Smaller

If you're a fan of Sony Ericsson's P990 Symbian smartphone, you'll definitely scream like a little girl when you hear about the newest P1 phone. Not only is it 25% smaller than the 990, it's got a 3.2-megapixel camera, 512MB Memory Stick Micro slot, push email through BlackBerry Connect, Wi-Fi (802.11b), VoIP support, Symbian 9.1, 2.6-inch display, a quasi-QWERTY keyboard, Opera 8, Stereo Bluetooth A2DP, and 160MB of internal memory. Viliv P1 Video Review (Verdict: Looking Bad)

So the Viliv P1, which we were so in love with, has let us down. According to CNET, the UI is atrocious, the battery life sucks wind, and the file formats it plays are for early adopters only. Not surprising, but kind of disappointing. More »

    CeBIT '06: Viliv P1 and N70

We were so happy to see the Viliv P1 on display here that we kind of scared the guy at the booth. The PMP is much bigger than I expected, with dimensions in the husky PSP range rather than the slick iRiver range. The video quality was excellent and the UI was pleasing and easy to understand. At a tech show chock full of PMPs, MP3 players, and other junk that just didn't "get it," it's interesting to see that Viliv has a wow factor that they other guys can't touch. More »

    Viliv P1: Coming Here? Really?

The Viliv P1 came out overseas last year and knocked our socks off. It's a 30GB PMP that looks like the bastard child of Jessica Rabbit and an iPod Video and could herald a new era of cool portable video. More »
