New photos of the Palm Gandolf have appeared, and if they're legit, the Gandolf has taken on a new look and a new name — the Treo 500. The Windows Mobile phone keeps a similar form factor and same Vodafone branding as before, but now has a darker color scheme and a bigger screen.
In addition to Windows Mobile, the Treo 500 will lack a touchscreen and feature 3G internet. It makes sense that this would be the final design for the Gandolf, as the earlier prototype looked too much like the slimmer, touchscreen-equipped Centro. Earlier prototypes resembled something closer what this ad is calling the Treo 500. We'll find out officially on Wednesday if this is the secret phone we've been speculating about, and we wouldn't be surprised if it is.
UPDATE: Alles Windows Mobile is reporting that the Treo 500 will have 150 MB of internal memory, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2 MP camera, MicroSD expansion and will come in two colors — the grey pictured above and the white seen earlier in spy shots. [WMExperts]

i still think the new center buttons design looks like garbage. say goodbye to the ease of playing video games with that crapola D-Pad.. :( *sigh* I really hope this isnt the future of the treo else my treo time could be coming to and end.
Palm: Please make the send and end keys bigger next time. I really like to call and hang up with my knees, but I can only press these with my elbows.

whatever you do Palm... do *NOT* put WiFI in it. no one wants WiFi ... certainly not in 2007. besides... how many other smartphones have WiFi? no sense putting in a feature that no one else has and certainly no one wants.

my treo 700wx is the best phone in the world; unlike your unsmart blkberry, the treo has a personality...it freezes when it gets tired, drops calls when it doesn't feel like talking anymore, and sometimes (my favorite) it doesn't actually remind me for stuff i set reminders for in outlook....as if it knows that i actually don't want to go to boring business meetings with my boss...and now i can get the same treo except downgraded to a non-touchscreen? wow!...where do i sign up?

Treo is the strangest phone... seems all their newer models go down in number. Wake me up when they hit 1.
