Lifebook U810 Available, Getting Props

The Lifebook U810 just went on sale. When we did our hands on of the the Lifebook U810 last month, I didn't really think it would get as much attention as it has in the last few days. Charlie, winner of the CES PC Building race two years straight, says its the smallest Laptop at IDF. Spoony and Friends over at Laptop Mag have a full review, where they loved the keyboard, and wished for 3G data (although a USB model can take care of that). Heck, I'll take one.

  • it looks like a great device

  • My only problem with fujitsu is their service. Onsite is for crap -- its all outsourced and the techs are not trained on the full line of laptops, the one they see at your place is likely the *only* one they've seen.

Sending it in can take up to a month (!!) to fix. My P7010 is 'in the shop' right now for the hinges breaking on it for the third time I've owned it. They really didn't fix it the first time very well, the second time they sort of hacked it together but I couldn't stand being away from my laptop for over a month again. I just sent it in last week and hopefully they decide to fix it correctly this time.

My fujitsu before this one was rock solid, so I'm convinced its a poor design issue -- but still, remember this isn't like dell completecare by any means.
