TN Game's 3rd Space Vest, designed by physician Mark Ombrellaro, is based on a earlier medical instrument that permitted doctors to carry out distance based investigations. As if there could be an even better use, Dr. Ombrellaro has modified the vest so gamers will be able to feel gaming impacts, such as punches and shots, by means of alternating air pressures that will simulate the sensations.
The gaming peripheral will consist of eight zones, all of which will be able to direct appropriate force to accurately simulate a plethora of sensations, including bullet fire, explosions, punches and even finger taps. The device will be released in November, retailing at $189 and will come bundled with two games, 3rd Space Incursion and a special edition of Call of Duty II. The TN Game online shop is currently taking pre-orders at $169.99 saving 20 bills on the final price post release. Patches will be made available for Quake3/4 and Doom 3 compatibility and an SDK kit will be released for developers.
Future revisions are already being planned. The next release will hope to replicate G-forces to add that little extra to speed orientated gaming. We may have fluked a win against Kotaku, but we are not so sure we are up to risking bruising to our sculpted blogging physiques for the sake of a realistic gaming experience. [Technabob]

Mmm, I smell another Hollywood movie in the works, where video games kill people. Since all technology is aimed at killing humans apparently. o.o Wait, maybe not, didn't watch the first one.
dam looks hot, but i aint trusting that vest for shit
dude if you want to FEEL getting shot and stuff, just go play paintball. 200-300 for basic gear that will last you ages and you can play all day AND go outside and have fun.
Falconfire is dead on... I suspect more than a few gamers (and gadget blog readers) would benefit from some healthy running around.
I already get wii tennis elbow, now I'm going ot have bruises too? Damn the realism of games...
@Falconfire:
starts out cheap, but then you get addicted. $200 cheap gun/goggles/co2 turns into $1000+ gun/$200 tank and the cost of paint makes it even worse
I still love paintball though
@discounteggroll: Yeah, there's no way to justify paintball as a "cheap" hobby.
fingertaps? do i sense a conversion to "sex toy"?
something here just screams BDSM sex toy here... could use this for some seriously nice deep pressure torture...
Everything about it looks awsome, but not the price. Too much for something like that if you ask me.
Yeah, paintballs nice... but with this vest, its only a matter of time until EA Paintball 2008®. It too, for reasons unknown, will feature 'The Hit Stick.'
@alin0steglinski: Not until they make the 3rd Space Jock Strap.
Ummm...I don't want to feel getting shot. Or punched. Or tackled.
I play the games on my couch and not in real life for a reason.
(Well, you say, I don't have to buy it. But it's new and cool and I don't want to be left out...so please don't make this. My sternum begs you.)
Maybe they could market this to assist in weight control for those glued to the LCD screen. Zip, and buckle up on a 90 degree day, and i bet you drop a few pounds. Do not forget to line your Barcalounger with plastic.
Great, now you'll get the real time sensation of master chief dipping his balls on you while the voice of some 12 year old bastard calls you a noob.
That's not too bad. I likes it.

this could go well with my force-feedback wheel... in a racing game, four to six weeks of physical therapy after a wreck would be much more realistic than just hitting the reset button.
actually, that doesn't sound good at all...
@discounteggroll:
The exact reason I stopped playing. I had a cheap gun that I didn't like using anymore and couldn't afford a good one, plus supplies, so I decided I was better off without it.
Bah! Childs play. I'm going to invent a vest with an array of electronically fired .22 cartridges and small pockets of C4 patches built in.
It'll feel so real, it'll come with a release form, and require you to have EMS on standby whenever you game. Now THAT's reality for ya folks...
I'm gonna make a killing...
I'm waiting to see this show up on Instructables where someone gutted the electronics from those sissy nylon vests and put them into a Class III Police vest.
(For realism's sake, shouldn't the camo version be in the new Army digitized pattern?)
Ooh, maybe EA can make Suicide Bomber 2008... or better yet, maybe not.
@PhyreBlade: Awesomeness. "I'm gonna make a killing..." maybe quite literally. But that's the price we pay taking everything "next-gen"...
I'd love to have one; but I'd imagine that since most games only have one zone for torso shots, that getting shot would only get annoying after a while.
@monkeybars:
I take it you've never played stock class or pump. $10 for a day's worth of paint. One fill on a 3.5 oz tank is more than enough gas.
@Falconfire: haha, true until you start playing tournament ball like i did. $100 tournament fees $200 for paint per tournament and over 1000 for the gun. Not the cheapest sport in the world, but i love it and will never quit playing.
*cough*Airsoft*cough*
I'll take one when they add Red Bull holsters.
I can hear it now the nerds crying out my video games gave me bruises.
