You know those grommet holes that are found in damn near every desk, but are rarely used? Well, Belkin put on their thinking cap and has designed a USB hub and iPod dock that will fit in the grommet holes perfectly. There are two different types of USB hubs, the regular In-Desk USB Hub and the angled Front-Access In-Desk USB Hub. The In-Desk Dock will conveniently dock any iPod with the bottom dock adapter. All three of the grommet accessories will available soon for $40 each. And if you still actually use your grommet holes for wires and such, these accessories still allow wires to be fed through. Bravo, Belkin. I would have never thought I would get this excited over USB hubs and iPod docks.

That is the best product I've seen today.
It makes me want to buy a desk just so I can buy that dock. Looking sharp Belkin!
Belkin has a way of making thing that are regular, really badass.
wow, now thats really clever. good job belkin, you're ok in my book.
Sweet. This is one of those simple things that can make a desk look so much more integrated and smooth, rather than the rats nest of cables to an on-desk hub...
Makes me wish I had a grommet hole.
Clevah!
Brilliant, Belkin, simply brilliant.
They should include a hole-saw for making your own grommet holes.
(you'd have to bring your own drill of course, but that's a small price to pay for do-it-yourself grommet holes)
Nice idea, too bad it's made by crappy belkin. I'm never buying any of their products ever again, their latest products are nothing but crap.
Perhaps, but with the "secret code": it's all half-price crap!
@MarkFleser
But's it's good crap - and you can't beat that.
If it werent for the fact they are beginning to charge Apple Premium prices for just a standard powered USB hub I'd buy more of their crap instead of whatever crap Fry's has on sale.
This is a great idea, I might actually buy this for my dad's office desk since his birthday is coming up.
This will be ripped off by about 10 companies in about *looks at watch* 10 minutes or so...
I've seen the one on the left bundled with desks at Office Depot for a long time now.
Still, clever product, and a nice upgrade for desks that didn't come that way.
I bought my computer desk with one of those built in (first on the left).
If you don't have a hole you can get one of those door knob installation kits at Home Depot. Just make sure of opening the kit carefuly so you can return it afterwards. Buy the white one, it doesn't get scratched.
when i read the headline i thought they've combined the usb hub with an ipod dock, that would have been really useful.i still like the build in usb hub,it looks a lot smoother and makes the desk nicer. but i think the ipod dock by it self is unnecessary and pretty much wasted money
Those are considered grommets? Wow.
Don't forget to ask for your (free!) "I'm a Cheap Asshole" forehead-sticker on your way out of the store.genius
This is the sort of thing that I wished I had thought of. No need for esoteric knowledge of science or engineering or years of experimentation. Just come up with a clever concept of organization.
WOW I'm loving this!
BRILLIANT!
Yes, Belkin makes crap. Yes, belkin has some good ideas. Yes, Belkin products are over-priced. Yes, some of these grommet things are clever. No, I will not drill my Ikea (unpronounceable) desk to plug it.
12345? thats the combo on my luggage.. weird.
I would actually buy this for my desk, if they had one for the wide holes and not the round ones.
Excellent idea! The problem with having an iPod dock / USB hub on most desks is the mess of wires. My home iMac installation appears completely wireless thanks to clever cable wiring, but this would make using the USB ports / iPod docking even better.
Great Jorb, Belkin!
I bought a desk with one of these in it just about a year ago. I have the angled USB hub and it is a great accessory. Honestly, that is why I picked that desk, the USB hub sold it for me. I am thinking of picking another one up for the other grommet hole in the desk now that they sell them standalone.
The good news is that my desk does have a grommet hole. The bad news is that it's on the BACK of the desk. Curse you, IKEA!
