ErgoQuest 500 Lets You Lie Down on the Job

ergoquest500_3.jpg Us bloggers are a lucky bunch. Not only do we get to skip the daily hassle of commuting to and from an office every morning, but now thanks to this contraption, we can also skip the whole "getting out of bed" part. The ErgoQuest 500 is a height adjustable workstation that can be used while sitting, standing, or lying down. It supports up to 400 pounds of equipment and comes with motorized legs and tilt platforms. The $4,000 workstation can even support an optional triple LCD arm. My only fear—this means you'll never be able to call out sick again.

  • That's y

  • ooo man how awesome would it be if that CRT came crashing down on him...time to get a flat panel!

  • That's your only fear? How about the CRT anvil pointed at your head?

  • Talk about being worked to death...

  • Does it come with the G3 Bondi Blue iMac?

  • Id have to fight somebody if I seen them using this.

    "Stand up..it's time to fight"

    Looks very awkward and uncomfortable.

  • For the last few years i have had pretty terrible back pain and sciatica. I'm tying this lying down right now but my monitor is on my desk along side my bed and i'm on my side in a position that is probably making my spine contort even more.
I could really use this thing to spread out the time i spend at the computer as i work from home. A few hours sitting (which agrevates my problem the most), some standing and the rest laying down would be an ideal sollution.
Only one problem. 4K for that beast is a rediculous and out of reach sollution. I don't need it motorised, just need the bare bones frame and would pay maybe $250 for such a product.
Ah well I'll wait until a Chinese knock off comes onto the market.

  • look really weird and if you unlucky the monitor might drop on you!! aka. dangerous
that just encourage people to get lazy at work and yet in America we have the highest rate of the fattest people in the world! so please make something more useful

  • It look very awkward and it seem dangerous, the monitor might drop on you and you can't predict anything happen! Now this desk it just encourage people to be lazy at work! i'm sry for those who has back pain or terrible back problem, but did you know here in America we have the largest rate of fattest people here. So i don't this would be good for other then the disability.

  • I can't stop laughing at the thought of that CRT slamming into that poor chap's face. I don't WANT to laugh at it, but I can't help it.

  • optional accessories include:
    911 emergency button
    lotion dispenser
    tissue box holder

  • The answer is "391".

The question is "number of days after the purchase of this device until they have to saw a wall out of the house and have 85 firemen lift the WoW gamer, mattress and all, out and to a tearful in-hospital meeting with Richard Simmons."

  • They forgot the arm props so that you don't have to use your own actual muscles in order to keep your hands up on the mouse and keyboard.

  • Dude! That has lawsuit written all over it!

  • "Talk about being worked to death..."

    Now THAT was hilarious!

  • This is SkyNet, lulling us into a false sense of security. Then, hen Judgement Day arrives, all those iMacs will break free from their restraints, smashing mercilessly into the faces of the unsuspecting humans.

  • Hey Poita!
Why don't you get a lcd monitor arm from lcdarms.com or ergomart.com? Thats what I did. My computer desk is near my bed so I mounted the arm on the desk and when I'm done with desk duty I swing the arm over for use when I'm in bed.
    Well.....it works for me :)

  • If only I could convince my company to pay for this, this would alleviate two problems at once. First, I have full body pain due to muscle and nerve irritation and inflammation. A mix of tendonitis and God knows what else, doctors can't figure it out.

Sitting alone irritates my sciatica, thighs, calves, and back, let alone the typing that irritates my forearms, shoulders and neck. This would definitely alleviate all that pressure to some degree, although elevating the legs to prevent lower back pressure would be even better than a flat position.

The second problem? Finding a place to nap comfortably at work =D

  • This looks like one of those home made suicide machines you hear about people making from time to time. RIP buddy. :(

  • Poita: I have built something similar for my laptop out of stackable shelving components from my local hardware store for very little money.

You basically need 4 poles, 2 shelves (1 that sits lower on all 4 poles and the other a half-depth one that sits at the top on only 2 poles). I then use velcro straps to attach the folded-open laptop to the top shelf so that the laptop base (the part with the keys) is standing vertically from while the display is leaning slightly over. Now put this above your favorite reclining chair (I prefer a Laz-e-boy) and voila!

  • Forgot to mention... then you just need an optical mouse and ergonomic keyboard. The keyboard sits in your lap while the mouse sits on the laz-e-boy armrest.

  • couple it with a web cam and teledildonics, and you're set for virtual sex

  • It looks like a piates setup a customer of ours just had installed. Are there attachments for a couple of marital aids ?

  • pilates

  • I like the concept since when you are sitting at a desk programming or doing graphics design you should get up and stand or something every 20-30 minutes. But who does that?

What I don't like about this one is that you have to push the whole freaking stand to the end of the bed to get out from under it, a hazard unless your on a non carpet floor.

I agree with other people who say get lcd monitors and arms, and wireless keyboards help too.
