If you saw our hands on with the V-Moda Vibe fashion earbuds, you'd know that they're both comfortable and pretty great sounding for the price. Their two latest version of the Vibe, the Red Roxx and the La Mocha, are the same great mid-price-range earbuds but with some slight changes.
The first, of course, is the color. The Red Roxx set is supposed to go with the (RED) version of the iPod Nano (or a RED RAZR), and the La Mocha is brown to go with the brown Zune. Both have the same silicone padding and the same great sound production as the original V-Moda Vibes. The only difference that our untrained ears could hear was a slight increase in bass response, which made it a bit more bass heavy than before.
Still, these new buds are priced at only $100 and offer an easy way to improve your appearance on your daily commute without exercise, better grooming, or a new wardrobe.

I have a set of these. Got 'em last week and I absolutely love them! They were going for a specific sound when they designed these. It sounds like a nightclub stuffed in your ears. The frequency response is very good, damn near the best I've heard (my education is in live audio production). If you're in the market for high end 'buds, these are the way to go.
These need to be burned in. V-Moda recommends 10hrs, I recommend 24hrs. The sound is completely different after the speakers are burned in.
2nd the burn in period. Night and Day.
Great looking, great performing earbuds.
How are these for classical music?
I've got a pair of these, and a pair of the lower model bassfreq headphones. They're second to none! Not only do they sound great, they've got just the trendy look to set them apart from everything else on the market.
I enjoyed the sound quality for classical. It's a rich full bodied sound, very balanced between highs and lows. I'm not much for classical music, but to give these buds a fair test I had a few tracks I listened to.
Picked up a pair of the Silver's myself. Not only are they by far the best sounding earbuds ive ever had, they look pretty darn snazzy as well.
The only problem ive had with them is pretty unique to say the least.
I was at the gym the other day using them on the little tuner attached to the treadmill, and apparently my body was building up a static charge, which was then being discharged from where my ears happened to be contacting the metal of the earpiece..... It was literally shocking my ears!!
If I kept a finger on the metal of the treadmill, I would discharge thru that, but otherwise they would snap and pop and zap my ears! Didnt really hurt, but was irritating.
Can you easily distinguish between left and right on these (ideally by touch)?
@Craig:
No.
There's a tiny R and L engraved on the bud, if you have them in the correct hands you can see the R and L if you move the rubber part a little bit. Not spectacular, but a small price to pay for such superior sound quality
I sent this over to v-moda, if you have suggestions on improvements this might not be a bad forum for getting those ideas looked at.
Anybody have a poor experience with them?
I bought these when my e2c's died, wasn't very happy with them at first, but after the burn in period, I consider them the nest earbuds I've ever bought. (thanks to the gizmodo readers, I actually gave them the chance to burn in)
By far, the best $100 earbuds in terms of sound quality, weight, and looks. These things feel virtually weightless compared to others, but they don't feel cheap.
@s017jrs:
Poor experience?
Well I had a pair and some how the left cord detached from the part where it conjoins with the right. I don't remeber doing anything rigorous to cause it. It may have been a defect, though.
Other than that, I absolutely love 'em. Getting a new pair soon.
I have these, Shure E4s and Shure E5s. Compared to the Shures they suck. BUT.
It's not a fair comparison. $299 for E4s. up to $499 for E5s. Meanwhile the vmodas cost what, 99 bucks?
Great sound for the price.
Definitely need to hear them just to see. I've been extremely satisfied with my Westone UM1's, which are in the same price range, but happen to look like hearing aids.
These are awesome earbuds, I love them.
As far as distinguishing the left and right, I got tire of looking for the little L and R each time, so I put different color pad thingys on each ear so I can tell the difference.
This morning my pair of these earbuds actually broke on me with normal use. Ive had them for only 2 months! The output jack, due to the "anti tangle wire" torn the outer cover, and a wire (as it seems). The sound quality now after the rip is about 48kbps = i need new ear buds.
The quality was BOMB, and the style/looks are fine
Other than that I think they need a new material for their wire
