Logitech S530 Laser Mac Keyboard & Mouse Set

10104.jpg

With a name that sounds like it came out of American Gladiators, the Logitech S530 Keyboard and Mouse are designed specifically for the Mac. You'll be getting that totally awesome all-white finish, as well as decent peripherals for your money. The keyboard comes with dedicated iTunes controls and a totally insane battery life: 6 months. The mouse is just a basic laser mouse with side-scrolling capability. Both the keyboard and mouse are not Bluetooth-compatible, but use high-end USB receivers to keep it real on your desk. How much will it cost for a handsome set like this? $100, which isn't too steep and the battery life alone is worth it. Don't forget, it'll look great with your Mac. It'll drop in March, so keep waiting.

  • I hope their software is up to the mark this time around. My previous experience with Logitech MouseWorks software and Logitech Control Centre on MacOS X has been disastrous. I've had machines rendered unusable and unbootable by their software. Caveat Installer!

  • why oh why not Bluetooth? most Macs have it built in now...

  • now if they could release some drivers for Mac for their other products, like the MX 3000, I'd be seriously thirlled. Their support for Mac recently has alot left to be desired.

  • 6 months? what a tankly keyboard

  • You definitely don't want Bluetooth for that mouse. I have the PC Bluetooth/Mouse diNovo set. The keyboard lasts forever on a set of regular AA batteries. The mouse, which uses rechargeables, goes dead after about 3 hours (which means swapping out regular AA batteries to continue working). The Logitech MX1000 mouse on my other PC, that uses the same proprietary RF technology this Mac set will use, lasts for... well, I don't know how long, I've used it for periods up to 12-15 hours, and the rechargeable battery indicator was still at 2 out of 3 pips.

huh? I don't get that. "periods up to 12-15 hours"? I don't remember exactly, but it feels like it was about half a year since I changed batteries in my wireless intellimouse explorer (and I use it every day). Is it because of the laser thingie? But even so, how the hell can the battery time go from 4300 to 43 hours?

  • 6 months for a keyboard seems about average, isn't it?
