Here's a little 8GB micro hard drive from PNY that looks kinda like a miniature attaché case. The PNY Maxfile Attaché has a tiny hard disk spinning inside, and gives you USB 2.0 speed in a form factor that's 2" x 1.75" and just three quarters of an inch thick.
Its anodized aluminum housing keeps it feather-light, and it draws power from its USB 2.0 connector so it doesn't need an external adapter. Available now for $179, the company says higher capacities will be available later this year.

The color and design of this drive gives me the impression that PNY just slaps their logo onto unbranded electronics from Asia.
Can someone explain why this type of small drive is better than a usb flash memory stick?
I have the slightly older 6 gig version, it stores data slightly quicker than flash drives and you can actually format the drive to permently erase any data, this doesn't happen with flash drives even when you do format them. But you still don't want to expose them to any hard drops on to concrete floors.
This is about as well designed as that crappy old electric razor my father in law still carries around in its ragged original box with a rubber band keeping it all together. How is it that I've got something with 1/4 the capacity but that is 1/16 size of this ugly thing? Remember, in the spy world, its reversed...
Wow, ugly. I would much rather prefer something like the Lacie Orange Card: http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10268 Smaller too.
