If it looks a bit like an iPhone nano but doesn't work like one, it could be a Slickr. Sporting the same sleek looks that made the iPhone a hit (in a smaller frame), the Slickr loses a lot of cool points when you realize it doesn't have touch screen capabilities. Even though it's reliant on button navigation, this German beauty still has a few handy features that could make it worth the $129 price tag.
It's smaller than the iPhone in both stature and size, bringing home a mere 2GB of memory with an SD card slot for expansion. You can play MP3s, WMAs, and WAV files, view JPEGs and watch AVI movies on the 2.83" TFT screen. An FM radio is also tucked away inside, and if you don't need to use headphones you can try the built-in speaker instead.
You can also record voice memos in WAV format, which segues nicely to another unique feature of the Slickr: MUSICMARKER. It's basically Verizon's SongID or AT&T's MusicID phone service that listens to a song and deduces the track title and artist by analyzing the sounds. Unlike those services, though, the MUSICMARKER requires users to connect their Slickr to their computer before the analysis can take place, so you won't be able to actually ID any songs until long after you've heard them.
Functional, chic and cheap, the Venzero Slickr is coming stateside sometime in August, but you can pick one up now from Venzero's site if you're willing to splurge on the shipping. [Venzero Slickr via Crave]

c'mon with the iphone comparisons already! this isn't even a phone! if you're going to compare it with something, how 'bout the iRiver Clix that pre-dated the iphone by a year? that would make more sense.
Sweet Jebus, I love this! Such an excellent price, makes this one of them orgasmic devices...
@weatherman: You just hit that dead on.
....I mean, not just price, the accessibility and functionality, such great features... it's almost perfect... if it would have WiFi, OMG... I... I... I would want it to have my babies...
If the Iphone nano was $130 and the service wasn't through AT&T I would buy it, but this ^thing is pretty useless.
This looks a lot like the Hacha R280S
Wait, wait, wait ... they've released the iPhone nano? How does the iPhone nano work?
Can you be an impostor of something that doesn't exist? I guess a horse with a carrot taped to its head could be called a unicorn impostor?
Why don't we give them credit for coming to the market with a device that may have the iPhone's features in a smaller package.
I agree BIGSWIRV how can it be like the nano.
Well I guess it's the I phone all over again,
Biting the LG Prada.
Someone should do some research and find out if Gizmodo is owned by apple.
Weatherman is right, it's a Clix, not an iPhone.
As is that Hacha device.
Does that mean that the iPhone is a Clix rip-off then?
button navigation? but ... where are the buttons? on the side maybe? so, what, you can't use the buttons and look at the screen at the same time unless you memorize the functions and feel of the buttons?
jeez sometimes design goes to damn far. yes it's pretty without buttons but damn! a non-touch screen with hidden buttons? please.
Looks like the iPod touch to me...
I have to agree with the above comments about the unfair iPhone comparisons.
Sweet Jesus, it's like everything that comes out looks like the iPhone, but who gives a wallowing ****.
"Ooh, a new international product that no one cares about, but since it looks like an iPhone, I'll write about it."
Seriously guys, I know the consumer electronics news has been slow recently, but you can make-do without writing articles criticizing products people don't care about.
So basically this is similar to the Cowon D2 but costs $20 less and has a bigger display. No need to smudge up some useless touch screen either. Now if it can boast a battery life of 50+ hours, like the D2, we might have something here. Sorry Cowon fanboys. I'll go confess my sins now.
I'm with Weatherman--this thing isn't a phone, and you got through an entire post with a title suggesting otherwise without actually clarifying that essential fact.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but lately I haven't been too impressed with some of the editorial choices on this site. I guess I should just be glad that you guys managed not to photoshop a lingerie model onto the screen in a transparent effort to boost pageviews at the expense of credibility. I mean, not in this particular post.
the JuiceBox is better!
You know, it's tough not to compare certain designs with a lot of what apple does (computers, iPods, iPhones, etc.) because it's designs are so simple and basic. The iPhone is essentially a rounded rectangle with a smaller rounded rectangle as a screen. It's an incredibly simple, yet (I'll admit) elegant design, so any rounded rectangles are going to look like an iPhone. I'm probably going to repeat myself in this way a few times in future posts.
