The phone is pretty dope. Tons of people will drop the loot, and their pants to buy one. But its gonna get GREASY dammit!!! Greasy, sticky nasty and eventually unreadable. Who wants that?
WHY Cingular Apple, Cingular in DC is not that good. Why not give a choice... GSM.. But if you are going to be selling it overseas, maybe there is an unlocked version??? Please Steve!!!!!!
It had better come with a better plastic coating than the current iPods, otherwise it's going to get too scratched or too greasy and you'll be afraid to wipe it clean. Either that or it needs to work with an invisibleshield applied, because I'd gladly carry a microfiber cloth around to keep it clean as long as I don't have to fear scratching it.
Hopefully a non-Phone version of the WS, touchscreen iPod is right on the heels of this. With Flash-based SSD. Tell me when I'm getting greedy.
Apple does it again. Thank God this company is around to push DESIGN. Design, folks, not just function. Remember that, Microsoft and Samsung and Creative Labs and everyone else who has no clue what design is. Kids, go major in Industrial Design if you want to be in on this.
IPhone ShmyPhone! Come on this is simply outdated tat. As the current going rate for a phone camera is at least 3mp, in this department IPhone shows how long it's been in devlopment. Oh but it's got a touch screen I hear you cry, so did the Sony Ericson P800 that came out in 2002! 4Gb hard disk done first by Nokia, and seriously how mush 3rd party software do you think will be written for the propriety software on the IPhone? oh let me guess....none.
I will remain faithful to Nokia it has a 5MP Carl Ziess lensed beauty with GPS, WiFi and a brilliant Symbian OS behind it. Sorry Apple not today....
I'm wondering how the actual feel of the touchscreen will be. If it's anything like the DS's screen, I don't know how difficult it would be trying to drag menus around with one-handed use. Just watching the video makes me long for a stylus of some sort.
How are they dragging without clicking on those songs in the playlist? I could see that as getting irritating fast, if it was misreading those intentions.
Ragenowok has a great point. One of the things i appreciate about having a WM5 smartphone is that there's a ton of software that runs on it. Also having used palm for over a decade, you beging to realize that it's as much the 3rd party software that makes the product as the product itself.
I'm going on record right now as saying "BS" to how fast and smooth they are purporting the rendering of the menu animations to be ... I'm sure there is a great reason they used a flash animation in loo of an actual demo.

The album-art skimming thing is nice but otherwise, [yawn]
Zune what?
I never dreamed I would see UI this awesome on a touchscreen!
