is this the same "abandonment" i received for buying the first generation ipod or how about the ipod mini that was abandoned 6 weeks after i bought?

face it, according to jobs, the life of these products are a year. so why bad mouth the zune and not the ipod everyone?

I will say this now, if they make the zune game oriented they will not see a huge increase in market share. The only adults who want to play games comment on blogs of this nature, and most little kids that do want a hand-held gaming system don't need music, and all the other crap that only adds to the price tag, and increases the chance of something breaking. Seems like MS is giving up on catching the iPod, and going after the DS now... just seems stupid to me.

it was a first gen device give it a break... on top of that the first gen team knew it wasnt going to last long it was their to get the name into the market for christmas, the zunephone was supposed to follow rapidly... im hoping for a doubleshot ultrathin, 720x480 3.5", with wifi and 8gb of space for a good price ... then i'll be estatic.

BTW hate to tell the apple fanboys, but my brother came home from school a week ago cause 2 guys got zunes (hes in a small private school in the caribbean) and the entire school was fawning over them. if they release an even sexier version its just gonna get better!

And microsoft isnt "abandoning the first version" the v1 and v2's will be compatable with each other wifi etc will remain compatable they said it from day 1. They said Version 1 was to hit the market before christmas and to hit 1 million units sold by i think june 07 they said.

well, I have had Vista on my pc for nearly a month now...and it runs pretty good ( I would say flawless, but a few days ago while I was typing, out of nowhere, the thing just turned off...for no apparent reason...but it hasn't happened since...so no harm done).

I'm not an MS fanboy although I do have a 360, Vista, & a Zune. But I have no problem with people running Linux or OSX...its just that OSX users are generally very arrogant (again, much like democrats).

I read plenty of other rumors that said that the zune would get an update every year or so, not every few months. August is actually a lot closer than people think. a refresh would not only leave early adopters out in the cold completely (thanks Sarbanes Oxley!) but it would also mean that Microsoft flat out lied about not alienating early adopters. All of the big updates in a rev B model would not make it to the early zunes. if rev B comes to fruition this soon, prepare to be zuned,...i mean screwed.

... I like my iPod, but I have to say something about the Zune...

So we here in Canada don't have Zunes readily available up here yet, short of importing it from the States. It's March. The new Zune comes out in August. That means basically the original Zune is DOA here, since well, you might as well wait a few months for the next-gen Zune that's coming out. If they release in April, it's about 4 months until the next Zune.

Isn't this going to be a repeat of the Osborne effect?
