    Sony VGN-UX50 Hands On

    Now that everyone knows the Sony VGN-UX50 is officially official, and not just a mockup, it's time to play with it. Martyn over at Digital World Tokyo got his chance at a news conference in Tokyo, and found that the device is good but not without flaws.

    The bad: Size. It's the size of a paperback book, so this won't be fitting into your pants pocket unless you're Yao Ming. But if you were Yao Ming, you'd have a problem with the tiny keys—tiny for regular people—that don't move when pushed so there's no tactile feedback.

    The good: Large 4.5 inch LCD screen with 1024x600 resolution, full Windows XP OS with intel Centrino processor, built in fingerprint reader and camera for conferencing, and a companion Bluetooth GPS receiver to be sold separately.

    The UX50 will be available in Japan on May 27 and in the US in July. It will cost $1,547 in Japan and $1,800 in the US.
