Updated: Better picture. Zune Scene has a leaked image that's supposedly three display units at a "large retailer" for the upcoming Zunes. If these are on target, there's going to be at least a pink and brown flash-based Zune that's smaller than the current one, and a black hard drive Zune that's about the same size as the old one. These look pretty similar to our leaked renders we saw a while back. We can't tell if it's thinner or sleeker from the angle of the shot, but we'll see soon. [Zune Scene via Zune Online]

Looks interesting but still pinks kinda gay
oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy!
this is a good day, but a bad one to take a 3 hour nap. radiohead album and new this...
zune1 firmware update is rumorored for tommorow as well.
Somewhere in a rural hamlet... a geometric tattoo is being scribed.
didn't they say october 16th? on here at least? well im likely gunna get the insignia pilot to replace my zen v because of battery life, removable battery, storage(and GOOD expandability unlike the new zen) tv out and bluetooth is nice to have. these are nice too but i feel that it might have the same hardware issues, the battery and i want to see the pricing for it.
The "meh" heard around the world.
@ LUCKY_YOU: thank you for making me smile...not having a great day.
Engadget reported a zune update had already come out... no zune update on my end... love my zune though lets see what Mr.Gates, has in store for us.... hope fully an international release as us Canadians want our share....(i had to go to the states to buy mine... but it was worth it)
It looks thinner from my eye. That small improvement would be a great thing.
The "squircle" acctualy looks kinda nice...
So, the new Zunes will be made out of cardboard?
It looks like the screen may be 16x9. If so I would be one happy Zune owner. I'd be even happier if the firmware upgrade for the original zune was worthwhile.
@lucky_you: Let me guess you own, an Ipod 5th gen or better. You also have a Mac, and you drive a small borderline femine car with a apple sticker right in the center of your back window, akin to a ladies trampstamp?
Didn't MS get the memo about the iPod's change in form factor and the touch screen?
Call this a copy?? LMAO
@xxenclavexx: Let me guess, you own a Zune or worse. You also have a Dell, and drive a beat-up Nissan Sentra with a Jesusfish beside the dealer's name.
Come on, labels are for cans.
I hope they dont make another brown Zune
@xxenclavexx:
Awww... still feeling burned you haven't been able to "squirt" with anyone yet?
Please meet a girl.
@lucky_you: More like the "what's a Zune?" heard around the world.
@rfaulder: actually built my own pc. And yes I do have a zune. Let me see, better frequency response, cost less, and a radio tuner.
The fact that an Ipod has no radio tuner is ridiculous beyond reason.
@xxenclavexx: Don't tell me...your favorite song is "all I want to do is a Zune Zune Zune and a boom boom?"
@lucky_you: Honestly, have you used both a zune and an IPOD for extended periods at a time? I didnt even want the zune until I tried it.
@xxenclavexx: i used to be able to give that radio thing but i listen to sirius so i cant defend it but i am a proud owner of 2 zens(v and vision:w)
Fanboys Warz....grr.
@ChopSue-Me: Don't know that song, why dont you listen to it for me and post some more lyrics here.
@rfaulder: That is so unfair!
Labels are for bottles!
I like how XXENCLAVEXX calls it an IPOD, and how he considers the Zune to be better because it has a better frequency response than the iPod (as I've said many times before, frequency response has very little to do with overall sound quality). He's probably using the stock headphones, thinking that he gets better sound quality than iPod users who've bought a proper set of headphones.
@xxenclavexx:
I have tried a Zune. There are certain things I liked. There were things I didn't. To use it for an "extended period of time" would require buying one. I didn't see the value. I used to have an iPod 5th Gen. I no longer do. Perhaps this release will be better for the Zune, however, it just appears to occupy the space that the iPod just left. Whatever. It's all just circuit boards and nerds anyway. It just doesn't seem that MSFT really gives a sh*t. They just have to have something on the market. My 2¢
I think they look horrible. Even worse then iPod thouch.
I'm sold on v2, the thinner Hd versions actually looks nice, so does that squircle thing.
@wetworker: I'm totally with you on that. I might just have to get Parallels on my Mac now. That screen size is nice. And the non-scratch texture of the previous Zunes was quite cool. I do hope they fixed the crappy software, though.
Interesting, interesting...
remember guys, what you are looking at is cardboard models, not the real deal...
Squirt? ... eeeeewwwwwwwwwwww.....
If it's as well designed as vista, I doubt it... and no I don't have an ipod but I am running out of excuses to not buy a touch.
what? most of these comments are weak. who's approving this drivel? the only thing that MS should release thats zune related is the press release saying that they have discontinued the product. end.
DW if they are using the same material as v1 you can't go wrong getting one, my zv1 is 11 month old and not even one scratch, looks brand new, i might even get another brown zune if it's available.
@Ednonymous: Your opinion.
why are you all comparing them to the touch shouldnt they be compared to the nano and the classic
@xxenclavexx: why someone would brag about FM radio as an advantage is beyond ridicule. does anyone listen to it?
@iPhoney: Who say the Zune needs or wants to copy the iTouch? $400 for 16GB and email is teh gay.
Stills FUGLY, and oh no that fæces colour again?
Waiting for the day when I can have an mp3 player with decent storage, and Sirius on board. Not sure of the size of storage on the Stiletto, but I do remember saying "meh" at the time.
I currently have a 2GB nano, a 5g Zen Micro, and a 20 Gig Zen Sleek. Bought the Zens because they have a built in Mic, which is useful to me as a podcaster. As far as ease of use, Nano wins hands down. I love it.
Not touching Zunes. The old ones remind me of an old PDA, and these new ones just dont do it for me either. Form factor is ass, and I just dont care that much about "squirting" songs about.
Wait a sec, Apple introduces the next generation of media players with touch screen and new navigation and MSFT's comeback is what? Make Zune 2 thinner? WTF?!?
@leemajors: Yes, there's a morning show I listen to almost every weekday, I couldn't do that with an ipod.
@utube2007: Amen. All the fanbots love to compare the 1st gen Zune to the overpriced touch, and they gloss over the fact that the touch still has less memory at twice the price. Heck the screen is only a 1/2" bigger too. But too be fair, I bet the touches 480-by-320-pixel resolution looks pretty sweet, I wouldn't know, I don't know anyone that owns one.
@RobotVampire: My friends dad. It's nice. The internet is deadly slow. But it does show. Pics looks awesome and vids too. The email is alright.
The wi-fi store is okay but i don't like buying every song so meh.
@RobotVampire: Dont speak when you leave comments such as "teh gay". Your lowering the IQ of everyone in here.
As for the zune.... as everyone else is saying.... who cares?
@iHeartApple: Cripes, that was a joke, welcome to the intertubes, glad you could join us.
@Cursemaster0: The thing that gets me is the touch supports 640x480 video which is great, but you have so little storage space. I mean how much space does a 2 hour movie take up at that res? I have over 10GB of music on my Zune, that would leave me less than 6GB for vids on the touch. If Apple can up the storage and lower the price $100, it garner more than a sideways glace from me. Hell, they could drop the internet and wifi for all I care.
Uh, why does cardboard need a "protective film". That must be some new space-age type cardboard.
@xxenclavexx: Seriously, an FM tuner? Please..be serious.
I don't see anything particularly appealing about these. If anything, I think it's a big step down from the current design, save for depth.
@Kaiser-Machead: Why does everyone hate on the Zunes FM tuner, oh right, since Apples refuses to put one in, it must have no value to anyone that matters. Access to instant music and talk radio has no value to anyone whatsoever. Sure I don't use the FM tuner in my Zune other than for 1 particular morning show, but at least it's an option. But I guess less is more, right?
did people buy zune 1?
@RobotVampire: I'm not hating on the tuner, but to claim that the lack of this is ridiculous beyond reason is rather hyperbolic.
