Revamped Sling.com Launches to Spendthrift Public
Sling.com has been in closed beta for some time, but now the Huluesque service is open to the public. The site includes 60 other content partners including networks like FOX and CBS and studios like MGM and Sony. And while you wouldn't expect to see any NBC content on there, you can actually watch shows like 30 Rock that are badged with a Hulu logo. My first reaction is that Sling's quality leaves something to be desired, but I certainly can't complain about the price. [Sling via AlleyInsider] -

Illustrative Slings Show How That Arm Got Boned
Found via Digg, these illustrative arm slings show onlookers exactly how you broke that arm, so you can save precious seconds from not having to repeat that boring story. Of course, your coworkers seeing this will then ask about where you got the sling design, how exactly you fell down the stairs when you live on the first floor of a one story house, and why you're such a big liar. A quick search turned up nothing on where these originated, so if anyone knows, post it in the comments! -

New Windows Mobile Slingplayer Coming Soon (iPhone Version a Possibility)
Sling's set to release an updated Slingplayer this spring for Windows Mobile on both the touchscreen and non-touchscreen versions, with the new features being more optimized supports for newer handsets. They're also working on an optimized Nokia N95 8GB client, and going to expand their stand-alone Symbian clients to include UIQ support as well. What probably interests people more than optimizing an already-existing client is the possible introduction of a new client for the iPhone, which Sling tells us they're currently evaluating the iPhone SDK for. Leaked SlingCatcher Packaging Shots Reveal Specs?
Almost a year after catching wind of the SlingCatcher, The Tomo Report claims to have laid its on hands on pictures of the final packaging, which happens to splay the device's specs. According to the box, it'll require an HDTV, along with a USB 2.0 HDD or memory stick if you want to use SlingSync. It supports a ridiculous number of formats: WMV, MPEG- 2, MPEG-4, H.264 and Xvid for video, and MP2, MP3, WMA, AAC, AC3 and PCM for audio, plus a number of containers. Naturally, the close-up showing the specs is blurry, the first sign of a fake, so take this with some Morton table salt. Peep the other two shots post-jump. More »
