The Oi sofa concept was launched in New York last year, but it's taken almost a year and a half to make it available. Made out of L- and bar-shaped components, you can make loads of different-shaped sofas with it, including one with a neat side table add-on. It packs up/down into a 30-inch cube so shipping and storage is easy, and it costs $2,300. Price, plus a gallery of all the permutations are below.

This has the word "metrosexual" written all over it.
It must be my dyslexia....on first read, I thought the description read "made out of L- and bra-shaped components"....
....that would probably have been more interesting....
Jenga just got a bit more functional. And heavy.
@ joseph LOLOLOLOL...honestly, outside of a design within reach store, who would even carry this?
Also, you guys do realize this makes building living room forts that much easier (and solid), right? Metrosexual nothin'. This is nothing more than an excuse to have sensible living room fort building material.
Quick, someone get this to Ikea.
the thing is, the truly modular sofa thing has been done, and cheaper, by Lovesac. not as easy to make a fort with those, but better than spending $2300, and probably more flexible as far as seating goes overall.
Hah. Hilarious. While I'm still a huge fan of lego and mechano...seeing this furniture used in anything other than a sterile, uptight, art display seems pretty ridiculous. For the same money I can buy all leather, laz-y-boy reclining theater style couches.
I saw this at ICFF in NY last year. One of the best modular sofa's i have ever seen (and I am a furniture designer). How it fits into such a small box I have no idea but I suspect that it utilizes some form of Japanese "big on the inside, small on the outside" compact car technology?
2,300 is too much for a bunch of junk..
LoveSac has been making modular sectionals similar to this for years already and they cost a lot less and look a lot better IMO. There's a LoveSac store at the mall by me.
