NetFront's LocationFree player for Pocket PC lets you stream MPEG4 over the air—or more likely, over Wi-Fi—from your Sony LocationFree at home to your phone on the go.

Yeah except Sony STILL has their heads craniorectally inverted and won't let you install the client freely. Gimme a break. You own the hardware. WHY would they make you purchase a copy of the client software for each machine? Thanks, I'll stick to my Slingbox, pay less, and have better quality. I'll just use the LF box with my PSP.

Well, I have been waiting for this for a long time (I was tempted on a few occassions to get the software a few months ago when it was only in Japanese!), so upon your notice, I went ahead andf took the plunge! It is pretty much what you would expect, but required a little more know-how upon initial setup and the interface is about equivalent to the original software, which makes it ugly in comparison to the built-in PSP software. But I've been wanting this on my phone for months (especially with the built-in internet plan), so I'm satisfied, although not blown away by it. klippoth , thanks for the information and the code. I went ahead and got it. Seems to give you a slightly better quality than SlingMobile though the frame rate is lower.

Meh. I'll stick with my Slingbox and standard wifi network I set up, rather than have to have two separate WiFi networks...

Plus, SlingPlayer Mobile was free for me because I bought my Slingbox way back when.

Slingbox is also cheaper than the LF base unit, and doens't need pesky licensing.

Thanks klippoth for your review and code. I used it to buy it. It seems to give me a slightly better quality than SlingMobile, wifi or 3G, though the frame rate is a little low.
