One of the things on the iPhone wishlist is being able to use it as a universal remote for your Mac and your Apple TV, but this Telekinesis webserver app meets us at least halfway. By installing this app on your Mac and hitting up the webserver, you can load up pages that allow you to do screen capture, control iTunes, browse your files, run AppleScript, take an iSight image and even do some basic typing.
Sure, it's not what we were asking for, but it is a nice way to get into your machine from across the house (or even across town if you have the right ports forwarded).

Actually, a hack I want is using the BT in the iPhone to be a remote to the PS3. (futzing around with a game controller to play a movie is.. odd).
@morbo: Too bad the bluetooth in the iPhone should really just be called "Headset Talking To Technology And Nothing Else" or something similar...
What a shame that they crippled BT in the iPhone - I use it on my Sony Ericsson T616 to control iTunes remotely using Salling Clicker and a class 1 BT transmitter on my G5...
That sounds like the worst kind of hack waiting to happen...
That looks like a great idea but at the same time it does seem suseptable to problems in terms of security.
I recently had been looking into getting a touch screen interface device to control everything in my new apartment. Anyone have any suggestions as to a good device that I can have built into the wall and looks great at the same time?
@Nachobel
Software updates, my good man.
Everyone else has been doing this with Salling Clicker.
Controls Macs and PCs over bluetooth or wifi.
i've been messing with Telekinesis for the last day or two, and it's pretty cool. mostly, i've just been snapping pictures of the cat from the other room, but i've set it up so that i can connect to my laptop from work or wherever when the laptop is on my home network.
pretty cool stuff.
It's gonna be a while before I get used to Gizmodo posting pictures of an iPhone without the Japanime happy face.
I finally saw the iPhone up close on the 4th and got to handle it. I was...unimpressed...
I'm no Apple hater, but I just can't see the thing being worth that kind of money.
Nice and it even works unlike other "iphone apps". If nothing else it's a good beginning. I'm sure Apple will release some sort of similar VNC remote in the near future.
