    Verso's Skype Filtering Technology

Why is it that some people just can't fight fair? Instead of trying to come up with technology that could actually compete with VoIP services like Skype, Monty Bannerman, CEO of Verso Technologies has come up with a "Skype Filtering Technology," that is also billed as a "carrier-grade applications filter." Of course, this will also block stuff like P2P messaging, streaming media, and instant messaging, but the press release downplays this side effect. I imagine Bannerman twirling his mustache as he says that, "Skype and other P2P applications were generating up to 30 percent of existing network traffic load as of last year," Bannerman won't be selling his application in the US just yet. Seems like the FCC is on our side, with current and upcoming American federal legislation in place to prevent application blocking of any type.
