As the auction of Concorde gear in Toulouse enters its last day, let's see what's been snapped up, shall we? Well, you could have had a supersonic toilet seat (which goes even faster than this one) for just $3,674. But the two most interesting pieces, a machometer, and a set of the supersonic plane's landing gear, which weighs well over a ton, went for a bit more.
A machometer, the bit of kit that registered exactly when the plane broke the speed of sound, fetched $34,700. And the landing gear — just where exactly in his (only a man would, I think, buy this) house is the new owner going to show that off: in the guest bathroom?— went for the same amount of money. People with money.
Well, people with too much money, that is.
But if you own a house with a garden measured in square kilometers, I suppose you could build a little pavilion for the landing gear.
And the machometer... well, since they probably also bought the supersonic toilet, why not have the speed reader installed with the flush, to see just how fast the shit hits the fan...!
I wouldn't mind a supersonic toiletseat. There's nothing like an earsplitting BOOM to really make you shit yourself. Bombs away indeed.
Wow. imagine having earrings made from the copper from the wiring from end-valve placement assembly 60372!!
And with the actual Titanium effector retention splines!
Unbelievable!
Put that Machometer in your car
"I swear officer, I wasn't even going 1 yet!"
Err... Not meaning to be a cheeky monkey, but I believe the term is "machmeter." Sorry!
It turns out that the Pentagon WAS paying the market price for a toilet seat, after all!
What I want to know is how much British Air or Air France got for the sale of the plane.
It's awesome that I read that as "MACHO-meter".
OOOOOHHH YYEEEEAAAHHH.
@Captain Lumpy Dog:
I've measured myself with a machometer and currently I'm at Macho 2.5 .
It used to be Macho 3 when I used to bench 250 lbs.
Are they selling the engines? I'll place a bid, my dad's asking me for a new barbecue grill.
you're right, an arsetronomical sum, indeed!
@lafond66:
The didn't put the planes on sale. Thi auction is for spare parts from the conorde
They should target the Russians if they can bid on bombers they would just love a concorde, even if they have to get it piece by piece
