Waiting in Line Now Fastest Way to Get T-Mobile G1

When T-Mobile announced that they had sold out of the initial G1 pre-order and were tripling production to meet demand, they said that you could still pre-order a phone through Oct. 21 to receive it at a later date. Unfortunately, it looks like a much later date. If you pre-ordered one after Oct. 3, you'll have to wait until at least Nov. 10 to get your phone. Meaning at this point it's probably better to just line up on launch day if you're dying to get your hands on one as soon as possible and didn't plunk down your money early. T-Mobile Cameo: Now Even Your Digital Picture Frame Needs a Cellphone Plan

The Cameo is T-Mobile's $100 digital picture frame that's loaded with a GSM cellphone tech. Users, who are willing to fork over $10 a month for a subscription, will be able to snap shots on their phones and have the pictures automagically beamed to their Cameo. For those who ditch out on the subscription, the Cameo is still a standard digital picture frame, running at 720 x 480 and supporting various flash cards and mini USB storage. So is it practical? We'll let you decide. [CellPhone Signal]

One in Three iPhone 3G Buyers Bailed on Their Carrier (Half Were From Verizon)

Whether people were holding out for 3G, the $199 pricepoint or just for their damn contracts to run out, in a market where carriers are pretty much forced to steal customers from each other, the iPhone 3G has been a Batman-worthy thief. One out of three iPhone 3G buyers jumped from other carriers to AT&T, though it might surprise where they came from. More »

Official BlackBerry Storm Documents Leaked

The sneaksters over at Boy Genius Report have somehow gotten their hands on an official Powerpoint presentation of the soon-to-be-released BlackBerry Storm. This is evidently a Verizon property, since the wallpaper on all the Storms is their signature red V, but no mention of price or release date. Still, some good shots and a lot of info, including new stuff on media syncing, touch typing, and more, for those waiting for the touchscreen wonder. [BGR]

T-Mobile Launches G1 Emulator to Pass the Time until October 22nd

If you can't wait for the T-Mobile G1's release, or just couldnt figure out if it's available or not and missed your chance to pre-order, T-Mobile has released a pretty full-featured emulator to play around with. It doesn't have everything (GPS is missing and a few functions just give an error message) but it'll give you a good taste of what's to come on October 22nd. [Cell Phone Signal via Engadget Mobile]

G1 Pre-Sale Madness: T-Mobile Triples Production, Sells Them All

According to a T-Mobile spokesperson, pre-sale demand on the Android G1 is so big that they have already sold all their units. She says that this is specially impressive because it happened after they tripled the amount of available G1 cellphones. Of course, this could mean anything without knowing actual shipping numbers, but it seems there's plenty of interest despite its many shortcomings. If you want to pre-order yours, however, you can pre-order now through October 21 to get it at a later date: More »

T-Mobile G1 Unboxed, Ready For Belt Clips Everywhere

Here's the first full unboxing of T-Mobile's G1 Android phone which, despite the rabid anticipation of the device, manages to be pretty boring. We're glad to see it out in the wild, but the lame carrying case and decision to include the trademark uncomfortable HTC earphones, complete with a chunky mic. But as my mother (or probably the head of marketing at T-Mobile) would say, it's what's inside that counts. [TMoNews] More »

Rumor: Best Buy to Carry T-Mobile G1 from October 26th

A purported screenshot of a Best Buy sales terminal indicates October 26th as the day that the first Android phone will be showing on shelves at the retailer. This leak follows a similar one from just a few days ago that reveals the BlackBerry Bold will be coming to Best Buy, also on the 26th. Accompanying screenshots hint at an unlocked Treo Pro as well, meaning Best Buy will soon sell arguably the four most desirable phones on the market. Whether or not there will even be any G1s left for Best Buy to sell is a different story altogether. [BGR]

T-Mobile G1 Sold Out, Pre-order Ends

If you were thinking about pre-ordering the T-Mobile G1 and just didn't get around to it yet, it looks like you're out of luck, since they've sold out. While there definitely won't be anything like iPhone launch day madness, don't be surprised if the launch supply is exhausted by demand and they're a bit scarce in the immediate aftermath. How many of you guys pre-ordered one? Update: Official word from T-Mobile is that there was a glitch this morning, and that "a small quantity are still available at this time for T-Mobile customers." So get cracking. [Android Community]

T-Mobile Popping Open Web Browser on Most Phones

Once you go open, it's hard to be closed, as T-Mobile's finding out. Following the launch of the totally open G1, T-Mobile is set to open up its crappy, closed T-Zones WAP browser that populates most of their new feature phones. Hopefully that means the full web, though they haven't confirmed that. Still, a radical openness could be a smart move for T-Mobile to embrace—as the smallest national carrier with the most limited resources (Alltel doesn't count), it's the most compelling thing they could offer.
