Mustek TravelFoto Desktop Digital Photo Display/Alarm Clock

mustek_photoclock.jpgIf you're out on the road and you forget what your honey looks like, this Mustek TravelFoto Desktop Digital Photo Display/Alarm Clock will pictorially remind you, and wake you up the next morning, too. However, its 128x128 pixel display is not going to be much for perusing your favorite porn, and given its 1.5-inch size, you might need a magnifying glass to truly enjoy it. That said, the company says you can fit 70 photos in its flash memory, while not specifying its exact capacity.

So is this going to be like that old joke where the woman complains about the shitty food at a restaurant, and then adds that the portions are too small? Perhaps so. But the small number of photos this unit can accommodate might be a good thing, since you must feed them into it via poky USB 1.1. On the upside, you'll know how long that transfer is taking by glancing at the time of day displayed on its LCD, and it even helpfully tells you the indoor temperature. It's all yours for $39.99, shipping next month. [Mustek]

  • Here's an express review about this gadget: DON'T BUY IT!

First of all you need to have windowz to upload your photos to the device, you need to install a crappy software that resizes your photos and transfers them into the device. Photos look... good, when you enable the slideshow... well your photos are displayed at a uncomfortable 2 secs rate, and let me tell you that it only has 1 transition.

Oh! I almost forget, don't plug it into your mac because it will erase all your photos

  • shipping next month? i got one of these for free at a convention last year... and the price was still too high. this is simply Mustek's rebranding of a crappy old OEM gizmo. i can't believe this is Giz-worthy...

  • At 128x128 sixteen bit color uncompressed, we are still talking about under 20MB of memory. Where can I buy one with my companies name on the bottom for the total crap gadget tradeshow giveaway? For $39.99 they could have at least paid some hot model to pose with the thing (or on the picture).

You know what it is, that's the CEO of the company and the girlfriend in the demo picture. And that's the sailboat they rented with the absolute absurd markup price of this item.
