Cingular Rebate Ad Points To Treo 750, Treo 680 and Cingular 8525

It looks as though the Treo 750 will cost Cingular customers $100 less than they might have anticipated if the wireless carrier's Web site is to be trusted. The eagle eyes at Mobility Today noticed a $100 rebate for the Palm smartphone that's valid for both the model with and without a camera. Also in the ad are rebates for the upcoming Treo 680 and Cingular 8525.

Hop aboard the hype express, ladies and germs, for sharp eyes have spotted the upcoming Treo 680 at Fry's Electronics (of all places). No other news to report, other than that Palm must hate the media since nobody in the fourth estate has received one yet. Current rumors point to the device's release date as being November 5 for $275 with a two-year, soul-draining contract with Cingular.
Palm Treo 680: You Care, I Eat Crow

I said I didn't care about the new-ish Palm Treo 680 that seemed to be little more than a colored Treo 700 with a few tweaks, and its antenna chopped off. Against my judgement, many of you voted that you were excited for the shitty little budget smartphone. I feel sorry for you, because you are wrong to care. But I also wonder, since the price hasn't been announced, and the Treo 700 is about $250 with a contract, how much would you pay for one of these things?

I mean, they're very similar, stat wise, so how much cheaper could they be? Our guess is $199. –Brian Lam

Palm Announces Low-End Treo 680

As expected, Palm has just announced the low-end Treo 680 for GSM markets sold unlocked in four colors: crimson, copper, arctic and graphite. In non-marketing speak, that's red, orange, white and silver. Each of these phones come with a 320x320 color screen, 64MB of internal storage, 312MHz Intel PXA270 processor, quad-band GSM, EDGE class 10, speakerphone, VGA camera, 352x288 video recording, and a full QWERTY keypad. Software includes an MP3 player, threaded IM software, and various other PalmOS compatible apps.

No pricing or availability yet, but since it's GSM, that rules out Verizon and Sprint. As always, we'll update as we know more. Here's all our Treo coverage to get familiar with the platform.
