[Update: Apple asked us to take down their art, so it looks it may be absolutely real. The horror.] 9 to 5 Mac has a couple follow-up spy shots of the iPod nano resdesign we posted about last weekend. If these are real, then it confirms the fat nanos that have a giant screen on the top half (which supposedly plays videos) and the scroll wheel on the bottom half. And it confirms those colors we talked about earlier as well. It also confirms that these nanos are kinda ugly and fat. [9to5mac]

Those are hideous, but I still want one!
I call bullshit.
There is no well in hell Steve would release something that fugly on the world.
Fake, fake and fake again. Makes no sense for Apple to do this. Fake, I say, mark my words!
@Windhawk: Make that no "way" in hell.
Though these should be dropped down some well in hell too...
does no one see that the image above clearly has .psd at the top of the picture window... it's a photoshop document... a little more effort in hiding the fakeness please
"giant" is a relative term...
The shadows on the buttons all indicated they were made one at the time and then placed.... and its blurry.
FAKE.
Besides, wouldnt that just be the new gen flash based ipod video?
If those are somehow real, that's a big screw up. One of the best things about the nano is it's size. Maybe this is a new ipod named the Macro (name works on like, 2 levels).
This picture isn't real, look at the shadows. What kind of light source does that?
Also, Jonathan Ive would have not allowed this to be. Steve has no fashion sense what-so-ever, so him possibly. But the Ive will kill.
Fake.
the iPod Ricky Gervais. "fatty fatty toad-boy"
oviously fake, look at the ipod's shadows, they are incongruent between them and between the supposed light source. that is in the center.
look at this picture, the red arrows show the actual shadows directions and the green the what should be the correct shadows acording to that light source.

By looking at the top of the window and seeing it's a PSD file, it seems pretty fake to me.
Why would they make giganto-nanos? That defeats the purpose. If they wanted to make something ugly, too bad, Microsoft already did the best job at that. It's called the Zune.
This is why I think they are fake. The shadows are all off on the photo (light source is not consistent, drop shadow isn't matching the placement). Also, look at the name of the file the screen shot has in it. The .psd format lets you know that it's a photoshop file, they are basically letting you know that it was manipulated. From a design standpoint it doesn't make sense either, the scroll-wheel would be ergonomically uncomfortable being so close to the bottom. Also, it's ugly as hell.
Also, would anyone want a screen much smaller then the nanos? I mean, there comes a point where it's just like go watch the tv you effing idiot. Like, would you want a shuffle sized player with a screen? No. It would be stupid and pointless. I think the only way for them to go from here is to make a media player the size of a credit card, maybe a little thicker, that can do what a nano does and fit in a wallet. Other then that, what else can they do but make all their other gadgets resemble their phone only thinner. If you can't tell, I like the shuffle but I think the rest of apple is over-rated crap.......that's shiny.
haha, this idiot didn't even bother to take the photo out of photoshop.. no way would apple design something this ugly.. notice how the front face looks rounded along the edges?
this is about the lamest fake i've ever seen.. i've just about had it with apple fans wasting everyone's time so they can have a secret moment in the sun while their fake gadgets get posted on blogs.. get a life
I think apple has done all they can do design wise and are revisiting some of the classics for the retro look.
There is a whole new generation of kids who don't remember the early models.
Wow, so it doesn't take much PS skills to make it on gizmodo huh? 9to5mac should have worked til at least 6.
Yes, it's a PSD file and so what? Where do you think this file (photograph of a computer screen) came from? Probably from one of the graphic artists working on images for Apple's site and/or other promo material.
@Rusdude: I mean, they're not even evenly spaced. How could you possibly think this is anywhere near accurate?
@nachobel: let me rephrase: Wow, so it doesn't take much PS skills to make it on Apple's Ad team?
@nachobel: Work in progress?
Just doesn't make sense to me. The Nano is clearly aimed at the exercise market, with all the armbands, Nike+ sensors, etc. This shape makes no sense for that market.
besides, tiffany blue and burgundy ipods? yuck!
That looks more like a full sized iPod, assuming Apple delays the iPhone-like all screen...
Use the Tags, Luke!
Not:Apple means I don't want to see iPods, iPhones, iMacs, or any other iCrap.
I think that thi is indeed just a rumor and I hope more than anything that it doesn't come into fruition. Those are the ugliest damn iPods I've ever seen and I don't think Apple is capable of producing such an abomination. I'm sure they can find other ways to make their Nanos play video. Right?
Okay, so, now I've learned you can't embed videos. I haven't had my coffee today, leave me be.
But this reminds me of one of their greatest products, the iRack.
and my new zen v 2gb comes in the mail today and Im glad and will settle...screw ipods
If that's a 3" screen, I'll be happy.
All my Adult Swim collections are in 4:3 anyway

No everybody! i have the really, real, super-secret spy picture:
Let's see...
These are as fake as all those iPhone rumor pics/mockups from 2006.
BTW, wouldn't it be cool if Gizmodo rounded up some of those rumored iPhone pics from last year and recapped them...?
jc, why do people think something is fake if it has a .psd extension. don't you know that ALL pictures in print usually start out as .psd files?
Butt fugly. Over & out.
