Looking for a quick way to connect a secondary display to your PC? LG's new L206WU can be hooked up via DVI, VGA or USB. Like the Samsung LCD we saw earlier, this display can let you daisy-chain up to six units all via USB and without the need for a monster graphics card. Spec-wise, it's got a 1680x,050 resolution and a 2ms response time, which along with the larger screen size is more than enough to give that Samsung a run for its money.

1680x,050 ... thats less vertical resolution than my girlfriends zen vision:m
At last I can play PGR in full 360 mode.
... Although with a "1680x,050 resolution" it may feel more like I'm playing playing in slit-o-vision.
So, with this system, I'm guessing compressed video is sent out over the USB cables? And then the monitor has a "decoder" type thing built in to do the work that would otherwise be done by the CPU/GPU to send out the raw DVI signal?
6 monitors "daisy chained" off one USB port on the computer would each get about 5 MB/s of signal bandwidth (480Mbps for HiSpeed USB2.0 theoretical, divide by 2 for "typical capabilities", divide by 8 to convert from bits to bytes, divide by 6 monitors)....which is about 2x the bandwidth of an OTA HDTV channel, but far shy of the 3.7 Gbit/s of a single-link DVI connection.
But does it run CS:S decently? =/
To hell with video games AFAIC, does it have the legacy support to let it's host machine boot without a "video card"?
it wont work with vista, my dad used to work at displaylink or infovision or wtv... point is, microsoft wouldn't make nice with them so the chips dont currently work with vista. my dad was in charge of production, which ceased to exist because no one really wanted tech that didnt work with vista, so he got canned, because of microsoft
Apparently it's working with Vista now!
Just a quick note on UK availability for the L206WU...
LG UK has NO IDEA about who stocks their monitor, I've had several useless emails from them saying that specific retailers have the monitor, when those retailers subsequently say they've never heard of it.
Anyway, enough rant. I've found some retailers that stock it, and it's available online today, April 1st 2008 (not an April Fool's joke) at the following (and probably others retailers too):

LG should pay me and sack their sales staff! (Sorry, more gratuitous rant).
