Wired has a really awesome gallery of tiny, tiny computers. You can't help but love a full computer crammed into something the size of a box of matches, can you? Sure, some of these aren't really at that small (Mac Mini? Come on, dudes.), but there are some pretty awesome examples of wee 'puters in here. Although they did forget a pretty tiny computer that would have fit well on the list.
The Gumstix Linux PCs are, as the name states, about the size of a stick of gum but manage to function as full-out computers. They're a hell of a lot smaller than a Mac Mini to boot. But hey, one missing computer doesn't ruin the whole gallery, which you should definitely hop on over and check out. [Wired and Gumstix]

well, i guess when it comes to gadgets and geeks it is reverse compensation?
do you just lay the DVD on top of it and spin it yourself?
Whoa. I wonder if it could run crysis?
A PC that fits in your pocket... they could trademark the name and call it Pocket PC.... oh wait....
But will it play Doom?
HEY! Can somebody please tell me what the hell happened to wearable computers? It seems to me that by the time we could get something as small and good as the computers featured here, we should have a nice affordable wearable, don't you think?
Come on, folks, I WANNA BE ASSIMILATED! Let's get this going!
IF it runs linux, it will run wineX, if it runs wineX you can play older PC games easily, newer ones...MAAAYYYYBE....maybe as in games from 2000 and below...this thing probably has a very very low graphics processor in it.
@awemaker:
I think the display technology never really got good enough or "normal" looking enough. Even with today's display goggles, would still look like stepped off the set of Star Treck. In addition, a good input device still doesn't really fit...
Perhaps an iPhone like touch screen strapped to your arm might work though..
I think this would be great for a CarPC...
Gotta love a computer where the biggest part is the NIC.
@nube: You need a flashlight too, to read the disc. Trust me, it works.
Wearable computers are alive and well.
I think it's just not as amazing as it once was, because miniturization of PC parts has gone so far from the 1990's when those projects first started.
A lot of the research done at MIT with fabric-based computing has resulted in actual commercial products.
But does it have an Apple logo on it?
Well, it's a small world after all..Nx
