It appears there are a handful of people, primarily engineers, who are taking the plunge and implanting RFID chips into their hands. Purpose? For automation, of course. Having an RFID chip implanted can save time doing things such as logging onto computer work stations, unlocking electrically-locked doors, ordering pizza and buying porn. Mikey Sklar, one of the pioneers of this self-chipping procedure, will be explaining the grisly process, telling why he did this, describing different tagging options and offering even more self-chipping information at the next Dorkbot meet-up in NYC on Wednesday January 4th at 7 pm.

I know it has an opposable thumb and all, but is that a human hand? It looks horrifying.
ew. puffy.
Why on earth did they not just put the damn thing on a ring or bracelet/watch?
From the article: "[t]he fact that it can actually do something useful is quite secondary." Um, I disagree, unless the Jecta blue implanter gun is that fun at parties.
that is the hairiest hand I've ever seen!!!
Is that a hand or a foot?
judging on this guy's willingness to mess up his hand like that and his unwillingness to shave/trim/wax, i'm willing to bet the palm is just as hairy.
wow, can we say implant rejection? look at how swollen it is!
