Sharp UK's HD1 Flagship LCDs with 1080p, 160GB HDDs

Sharp UK is announcing an interesting flagship model at IFA that might not ever see the US shores, but could point the way for the next gen LCD coming from the company. This HD1 designated LCD has a 160GB HDD presumably for DVR functions and a USB drive for photo viewing.

Stats like 46 and 52-inch models, along with 1080p, 15000:1 contrast ratios make it sound very much like the current flagships that we know as the 92-series. There's also an XL2 and X20 series of HDTVs, but since all of this is likely UK fodder, we'll wait til the US next gen stuff comes out to delve deeper. (Pictured is the XL2 LCD detailed below)

iRiver X20 Widescreen Video Player Manhandled

CNet Asia has a pre-release sample of the iRiver X20, a widescreen portable media player that holds up the tradition of fine iRiver products. The screen on this baby is 2.2-inches and sharp as a rusty tack in your foot.

The scrollwheel, however, is a little small. But the microSD card (why not just SD?), MPEG4/WMV support, FM radio, and great sound quality make up for its shortcomings. Although it's too late to fix the scrollwheel for its February launch, everything else seems to be in order. It's no (theoretical) widescreen iPod, or even Creative Zen Vision W, since 4GB of memory won't be holding many videos. – Jason Chen
