Elijah-M commented on Scott Weiland and Steve Albini, Together At Last,

@nh_dave: You're right in that Albini doesn't get royalties, but his per-day charge is anything but a static flat fee.
"Albini uses an admittedly somewhat arbitrary sliding scale based on such factors as his friendship with the musicians, his opinions of their integrity and music, and his assessment of a given record label." ([en.wikipedia.org])
Based on the above criteria, I think it's safe to say he'll be getting paid.

@Dark-Dx: Your idea sounds like a terrific, time-consuming and fun way to get huge files that drain my iPod battery and (despite being more than twice the size) don't sound as good as the 320 kbps AAC files I make from the CDs I purchase on Amazon.

@Maura Johnston: So if I see the Rolling Stones today, and they do a bunch of Rolling Stones songs, and they suck, does that mean that the records they were making 40 years ago also sucked?

How exactly does Roger Waters' solo performance detract from the merits of a band that he hasn't been a member of for over a quarter century?

If everyone who eats a Big Mac knows how bad it is for them, surely the restaurants effected by this law should have no reservations about complying with it.
