And lest we forget, you need 3D CONTENT to display on your 3D TV as well, and nobody's producing anything like that.

<![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented on Border Agents May Soon Need Court Order to Give Your Laptop a Cavity Search]]> Even a day is too long.

I mean what am I supposed to do if I'm coming home from Canada and they take my laptop with all my vacation photos on it? Drive three hours back up to the Canadian border the next day to pick it up? Stay in a hotel overnight just across the border? Let them ship it to me with inadequate padding and recieve it broken?

They shouldn't be allowed to look at the data on laptops period.

<![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented on 10 Suckiest Video Games People Play In Science Fiction]]> They should have just kept the gameplay mechanics of that star trek game a mystery. <![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented on Japan Gets New Bionic Commando Trailer]]> I just don't see how this will work.

I never played the spiderman games, but if I'm not mistaken, in those you just fire your web up and it just magically connects to the sky or something. But here it seems like you actually have to have something to grapple onto.

<![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented]]> That's Piccolo? God. This is just like that Super Mario movie. Don't they realise that fans want to see characters which at least bear a vague resemblance to their cartoon counterparts? Nevermind his skin isn't greeen... He doesn't even have his little antennae!

<![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented on Pandemic Batman Game Given The Arse]]> The original article implies batman has a limited range of moves. How so?

He could punch, he could do a double fisted punch, he could do an uppercut, he could grapple, he could throw people, he could flip people, he could kick them in the chest, or sweep their legs. He could block with his forearm shields. He's got a batarang, a bat grapple, smoke bombs, flash bombs.

Batman's got more moves than a ninja!

Shoulda put me in charge of the design. It's practically impossible to screw up Batman.

<![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented on Scientists Work Out Way to Capture 3D Texture Info in a Flash]]> "Clapboard is not a type of material, its a physical structure."

Well neither are mayan wall carvings.

"Have you ever put clapboard in a 3d scene? i suspect you are a not even professional 3d designer."

You're questioning whether someone would ever use clapboards which are extremely common on houses, in a 3D rendering?

And dude, I looked at your 3D art. You have nothing on the guys at CGtalk.com.

<![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented on Scientists Work Out Way to Capture 3D Texture Info in a Flash]]> You invented that yourself did you?

That's not a better method. That's what every amateur 3D artist does when they need a bump map, and it gives terrible looking results.

<![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented on New Resistance 2 Screens]]> So I'm looking at this, and I'm like "Wow that looks awesome. And this is a sequel? Why haven't I heard of it?" and then I remembered the first one was caleld Resistance Fall of Man, and I looked it up, and I saw that stupid cover with the four eyed skull in a solider's helmet and how the whole game was like in sepia tones, and I remembered having seen it before and decided that I didn't want to play another brown FPS.

But these screenshots are anything but brown and it looks pretty sweet. Graphics-wise anyway.

I eventually did open it and play some of the multiplayer games with friends though.

<![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented on Possible Explanations for This Dumbass Sears Ad]]> If you look closely, you'll note there is an XBOX 360 there next to the PS3.

<![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented on PSP 3000 Photos Emerge: New Bright Screen is New, Bright]]> Um, how exactly is the bottom one brighter than the top?

It actually appears that the top one is 25% brighter.

Here's an image which I adjusted in photoshop using the legacy brightness control to make the two bright areas on the right side of the screen (middle strawberry highlight, and cyan background) match those in the the image on the PSP above.

As you can see, the apparent difference in contrast is much less when the brightness of the two screens are equal. Also much of the lack of contrast on the top screen can be attributed to the glare on it.

You will also notice that the image in the top PSP seems to be much sharper. Look at the strawberry pits. They're much more defined on the first PSP, even in the original photo.

The color reproduction of the second one seems to be better though.

<![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented on Game Sharer Must Pay Over $29,000]]> Are you kidding me? They got $30K from one person, for uploading a PINBALL game? And one which wasn't very good at that?

Does this judge even realise how much a game like that would make on average? Pinball games are niche. If they made $30K in profit on a game like that they could consider it a success.

That's actually WORSE.

@photophile:
The reason it is 3 wheels is not because of mileage. It's because if your vehicle has 4 wheels you have to do really expensive safety testing. If it's got 3, no safety testing required. In other words, this car could be a death trap, and not because its built light.

<![CDATA[Elliuotatar commented on Seattle Flushes $5 Million Automated Public Restrooms for Major Loss]]> @TaitRT:
Natural selection would weed out the homeless?

Dude, if things were natural, then I could just start building a home on a peice of unused land.

But as things are, even if you have $10K, you can't buy a small strip of land and just start building a home on it. There's all these codes that have to be followed, and permits which have to be accuired which can be denied for almost any reason including that your structure isn't "in keeping" with what the rest of the houses in the area are like, and there are laws which will see you forcibly removed from your dwelling if it doesn't meet these codes, or if you don't pay taxes on the land.

You think people live behind dumpsters because they choose to? They live behind dumpsters because society has given them no other option.

Well, there's only one weapon left for them to replace. They've already replaced the fists, and the minigun. So that leaves the shotgun.

So either they replace the shotgun with a sandwich, which I guess is possible, or maybe... when you have the boxing gloves equipped and taunt... he eats a sandwich and that gives him health?

And ya know... it wouldn't make a lot of sense for him to do the "pow!" taunt when he's wearing boxing gloves.
