Hello_Newman commented on Gadget Turns Your Water Bottle Into a Portable Shower Yeah I got to get on board, $50 for a water bottle nozzle that can be made for 6 cents worth of plastic. Hello_Newman commented on Metals Manufactured In Space Could Increase Jet Engine Efficiency We already have this, it was a sample from a UFO watcher who got metal and it was tested and confirmed it was created in the vacuum of space in zero gravity. Of course that wasn't possible when he found it, but he has it and it's still not possible currently.
It's already been done, not by us, but by someone.

Hello_Newman commented on Dell to Sell XP after June 30, Microsoft to Pretend They're Selling Vista to Save Face I don't know if the editor sees this, Microsoft is a monopoly and they can do what they want, and claim what they want. If caught, they can simply outspend the government, who has resources with limits and they have none in a practical sense.

Even though they have huge cash reserves, and there's a special tax to apply on companies to do this, nobody has put it on them yet, even though the government could. This is a company who spent 650 million just to keep Netscape from getting any traction on the desktop of Internet computers by giving away IE, then lying that it was so integrated that they couldn't take it out, even though hacker could.

So just snap out of the shock at anything they do. They have the connections to murder someone and local officials will say it was "a needed purge to society".

Hello_Newman commented on Renault-Nissan And Bajaj Team Up On Tata-Upstaging $2,500 Car Yeah it's a car for India, and maybe China where crash test ratings don't mean anything. The economy there sucks and you have to sell a car at this price point for it to work. They are just behind the times and don't blame them for it. Look back at the Model T, it sold so many because the people at the time could afford it. This is the same deal only in a part of the world that is poor.

Hello_Newman commented on 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, Reviewed I like the more angular designs they do, like the 80's cars. This is ok but too smoothed over. It's like they took a rasp to one of their other models. Back of it looks nice and sleek though. I suppose it's ok if you like style...and power...and fancy niknaks. Hello_Newman commented on A Simple Graph Chooses Your Next Video Card I use an 8800 GT Alpha and it runs World of Warcaft in 1600x1200 at 60fps no matter what I do with all video options maxed out. If you need to do more than that, you're a madman.

The rule of thumb is buying more video card than you need if you upgrade yourself, if you buy a whole new system that's prebuilt, then don't upgrade video, just wait for your next system.
Also if you go SLI, you're in for a much more complicated system than with one very powerful card. Also they pair or quad of them will be obsolete for an even bigger loss someday.

Just get one powerful single card without these SLI reindeer games and compatibility issues and be done with it. One top end card that costs the same as two SLI versions will cost a few frames per second you'll never notice, and work with every game instead of chasing down titles to take advantage of it and the rest suffers.

More isn't better, better is better. Compatible and simple is better.

Hello_Newman commented on Narae Inter Recorder Mini, Tiny Mobile Mic There's so many cheap, small, high quality USB mics out I'd go with one of them instead. One reason is the sound quality is much better than with a sony jack like that one. The other reason is for programs like DragonDictate and other voice recognition ones, if you train it using a sound card mic, and switch sound cards or computers, you have to retrain it all over again.

If you use a USB mic with them, you can move your dictionary file to a new computer and keep using it without having to teach it all over again.

USB ones are pure digital, not into an analog port then to digital, you lose quality and the USB ones are so cheap and common, just get a good microphone and be done with it, even the full sized ones aren't that big or heavy.

Hello_Newman commented on Light Bags LoJack Your Handbag With GPS Maybe if it was a Prada bag it came in. Anyone stealing a purse will take the money out of it, then dump it in a trash can where the cops will find it, empty.

Hello_Newman commented on Myhab Recyclable Concert Dwellings Now Available For You to Do Horrible, Horrible Things In Well it depends if it's $240 for a five day concert or per night, doesn't say. Also they should have put the lock on the outside, to keep people from wandering in and having sex, taking a leak, or passing out on your bed while you're gone (or all three). I can see these as tempting when port a potties aren't nearby...yuck.

For me, if you have an SUV (and lots of people do) getting an air mattress and cooler and enduring the walk back to it to sleep the night would be much more comfortable and a lot more secure than this thing.
With most SUV's you can remove the seat rows for extra space, inflate the bed using the lighter adapter, and lock the doors at night.

If that price is per night, you can easily rent a camper for that much and really live it up.

Hello_Newman commented on Intravenous Vitamin Mix Bar Alleviate Stress, Aging This isn't a noble effort for "preventive medicine" this is for people who feel crappy for other reasons after the fact. It's a money maker and don't believe for a second that this is preventative. Eating vegetables and not drinking too much prevents you from feeling like crap ahead of time.

Just the thought of needing a commercial IV drip to feel better sets off alarm bells.

If you want to "raise their awareness of daily health management on their own." you do it by eating right an exercise and not going for an IV drip after you feel bad.

For someone in the medical community, they could at least be honest about what they are doing, but they are not.

Hello_Newman commented on Geiger Ford F650 Is A Bit Late To The Game Everytime a vehicle like this is featured it starts the same chain reaction and it's like history repeating itself seeing the same posters each time. I'm in the mood for bullet points!

- There are rich people in the world, lots of them. They buy things like this, your favorite NFL team has people who own them. They are filthy, stinking rich...

- These trucks are recession proof. Marketing timing doesn't come into play for trucks like these because people who buy them are...see above point.

- The same for the mileage they get, the person owning this also has a boat that gets 1-4MPG on the open sea. If you shame people who get poor gas mileage, just fixate on the boat they also likely have until your head explodes.

When someone reaches double digit millionaire status, it's no longer about the bank account. It's about status and this is one of the things people buy to get it. It's not practical, it makes Mother Nature take one for the team, but they buy them anyway.

Hello_Newman commented on NY Times Reveals Congressmen Have Bad Taste In Cars, No Eye For A Deal The problem is the government isn't run like a business. Even with the GAO supposedly keeping tabs on things, it's a spending spree. Instead of the next tax hike they should hire a staff of retired business owners to really comparison shop for spending cuts to simply get better prices.
Also with the free gas part, they should insist they only buy gas at places that don't import oil from the middle east, there's several major gas chains who don't do this, and the public relations could be great at election time.
Winters in DC can be pretty bad, but there's AWD choices out there, and yeah they are always going to pick a US made car, nobody up for re-election will get a BMW or you know that's going to get mentioned by an opponent.

There should be audits of all spending like this and if it doesn't compare to fair market value for the same thing, their spending should get cut. It's a very simple way to keep this unlimited spending, where limits kick in if they are spending more than say 20 percent over prevailing market prices on anything.
The General Accounting Office is supposed to reign in this kind of thing, but they most likely don't have the authority to change things like this and they should.
