"If i remember well this is a "China Only" pieceof hardware for which they have already approvalfrom the DVD int.board. Should be a pretty solid piece of hardware asthe 2 previous being EVD and HD EVD, the last onewas announced in december, never heard anythingabout it.Why the HD VMD with its Chinese roots was dumpedand now trying to get it going outside China isnot clear, anyone ?? The CH DVD will probably contain products fromLSI, St.Micro,Sigma, Conexcant,and their "own"mpeg 4 H.264 AVS Decoder which will probably bempeg4 h.264 avs - avc as already announced byST.Micro and others and by NXP for TCL TV's The neverending story about fees to be paid intellectual property, about which i am glad it is not my daily job is a kind of pathetic as whenyou are with 1.3 billion 100 million dollar isnot really an issue and apart from avoiding the fees they have themselves nuked the Average Selling Price the past years. Hopefully i am wrong and will it be available forexport next year as probably it will be hd-divx,hd-wmv - wma 9 (pro ?) VC 1 , mpeg3pro, dts-hddolby dig.hd , ieee 1394-B and HDA as per Inteland Microsoft ,dvi,hdmi 1.3 and a few things more. I hope 1 or more suppliers will add broadbandconnectivity and a HDD,with a small HDD of40-80 gig a price around usd 200,- / 250,- andanother 30 - 40 usd for tv tunercard, cheap thanks to a dictatorship,prison wages and the USAby far leading the pack as foreign investor, and to put things into persective, 1 - 1.5 % economic grow in the US equal the amount in Dollars with 10 % Chinese growth and with 70 % 80 % of the population with a monthly income ofusd 100,- / 200,- still a long march ahead."
