"
Yep noted - they're pushing the Intel thing hard now
Can't blame them - you'd want to take full advantage of the new processors etc with a new release."
"
@AgX:
Hey - go to IonlybuyPCcrap.com if that's all you want to read about.
Unfortunately for you - Apple are forging ahead with lots of exciting, new, well designed products.
Get used to it!"
"
@wilee:
Oooooo poor little wilee - maybe if his Billness could ever produce anything worth blogging about, we'd see 12 articles on MS products on Giz.
I won't be holding my breath...."
"
@Mario:
Zzzzzzzzz - you can buy any cheap ass, nasty keyboard, monitor and mouse you like - assuming that you don't give a hoot about decent design, and just want to be a cheapskate.

@yoshi:
Who am I to question your motive Yoshi?
Your track record speaks for itself.
After an overwhelmingly positive market update - you initially tried to suggest that 'iPhone shipments look very disappointing'.
Then switched to a back-up plan of stating the bleepin' obvious when your hasty attempt at Apple sabotage was revealed for the sour grapes it undoubtedly was.
Be a man, admit you got caught up in you anti-Apple fervor and 'shot your bolt' early."
"
@yoshi:
Ah, personal insults - the last refuge of the desperate.
You state the obvious and make a mute point.
Given that iPhone was only on sale for 1.6% of that quarter, any impact at all is amazing.
Looks like the Street are more than happy - as I check my iPhone the, ticker says....
146.44 +7.17%"
"
@yoshi:
Ahhhh, my love of Apple stock you mean.
Looking at my iPhone stock ticker it says....
146.44 +7.17%
Looks like the Street doesn't share your pessimistic forecasting"
"
@yoshi:
You crack me up!
You just have to find the angle don't you 'the iPhone had minimal impact on Apple or AT&T's earnings last quarter'
In the time between 6pm Friday, and close of business Saturday, Apple sold 270,000 phones that retailed at $499 or $599.
In that time AT&T added just 58,400 new customers.
That's the number of new users that actually managed to get registered in that time - with all of the delays and issues that AT&T experienced.
To try and suggest that this shows disappointing sales, or new user up-take is crass.
You are negating the effects of:
a) The AT&T system meltdown that shut down new registrations from Saturday to a crawl
b) The existing AT&T customer base that signed up to the two year iPhone plan, but don't show as new AT&T customers.
You need to suck it up - it was the fastest, most successful cellphone release in history.

@ Yoshi / PROFESSIONALGUN et al
I'll do the math for you:
Munster's model predicted 200,000 units sold by qtr end, and he speculated that they might do 500,000 iPhones during the first weekend.
So 270,000 units sold from 6pm Friday through close of qtr Saturday, is still in line with 500,000 total by the end of business Sunday.
Basically the iPhone was only on Apples Q3 radar from Fri 6pm East Coast through Sat 10pm West Coast - so 9 hrs on Sat (Apple stores stayed open till midnight on Fri), plus 15 hrs on Saturday (9-9 + 3 for West coast) Total 24 hrs (store time) for 270,000 units, that's just over 3 iPhones per second.
Having checked stock on Sat and Sunday via Apple's website, sales were still going strong in many areas through the whole weekend, so both numbers could in fact be correct.
And here's some more numbers to help will your feelings of abject dismay:
Zune - 1,000,000 units in 7 months
iPod - 9,815,000 units in just the last 3 months
Way to go Apple!"
"
So - how many iPods sold in the months since the Zune launched?
Seems like a more valid comparison to me.
And, like many others, I've yet to see a Zune in the wild.
I've seen many iPods, even iPhones, never ever a Zune."
"
Howard Stringer is a whining Taff - if they'd played their cards right they could have transitioned from Walkman to an MP3 device and dominated the market.
But they wanted to go MiniDisc and missed the boat.
Shame!"
