"Just to clear up a misunderstanding on here - the sensor size of 2/3" is actually 8.8mm x 6.6mm - that's a sensor area of 58sq.mm and pixel density of 190,000 pixels per square millimetre. A typical DSLR has 25.1 x 16.7mm = area of 419 sq.mm and for a 10MP camera like the Canon 400D, gives a pixel density of less than 24,000 pixels per square mm."
