#Tip There is a firefox plugin called System Video, which will take Stream from the HTML5 tag and feed it to a firefox plugin like quicktime. I.E. Watch all youtube videos in an embedded quicktime player in firefox. I dont mind flash though, and cant wait for 10.1 to get out of beta.
I dont know if its just a combination of a new Mobo and windows 7, but my pc will selectively turn off usb ports that aren't in use when I put the pc to sleep, and keep all USB ports that are charging devices, active.
That was my idea, I helped make Windows 7. MOM!!!
I can certainly see how its not a good thing that one company has so my knowledge and power, and the fact that Eric Schmitty acts like any typical gallivanting, stuck up, billionarre. But the truth is Google has probably helped advance society in the past 5 years more than any person or thing could have in 25 to 30 years. Google gives us knowledge and in return we give it knowledge on us, so that it can more effectively place adds that I have never once clicked in my 10 years of using google services..
The problem is they aren't updating the OS fast enough. They probably wasted all their resources on the video driver for linux. I think if they open sourced the OS, allowing the community to add the features that are missing and then roll those into firmware updates it would be a major win. But the SDK still has so far to go, and the basic linux OS underneath does to. Almost every patch in Preware should be a configurable option for the user. If they just had 2000 employees instead of 1000, the platform would probably have 10 times more market share right now. The Pre is easily as powerful as the Droid too, the OS optimization just has a lot further to go.
I dont understand why you need a server to run a PHP script with this. You cant build it in an app on the phone? I am dieing for this feature but i have a Pre, and unfortunately Pre apps can't store tokens and cookies yet.
I think all companies need this at it very well could save lives. By the post I thought you were gonna say this document tells the government how to tunnel into my PC any time they feel like it without a warrant. Which the obviously can, just I feel better now for some strange reason.
I kind of agree to a point. Personally I think the government should be in charge of the actual cell towers and and needs to make a stand on wimax or LTE. Part of the problem is that the carriers own their own towers and you have Vz, att, sprint, and Tmob all putting towers next to each other. That is not efficient or cost effective and means that big cities get all the benefit, while 80% of the countries population is left in the cold and evil 1x/edge world. Providers should be plugging their pipes into the FCC run towers and create an efficient, green(towers suck power like a 60's muscle car), supersonic network. It works in South Korea, Japan, and in Europe.
I love sprint cause the price is right, but i dont feel comfortable with the nexus one cause to do text to speech i need the internet to upload an mp3 to make it happen.
I personally love the desktop. It is the only limitless device. People have tried to extend its content, MC Extenders, DLNA, Shared services likes bonjour, but the bottom line is that good old VNC is the only real solution. I say this cause of apps like Hulu desktop, and the annoyances of transcoding, or the sluggishness of my itunes library on a shared device. And the iPad has made me think of the HP slate for the same reason of this post. Windows 7 with Direct X 11 is suppose to kick ass, and I think my fios connection kicks ass at 25/25 too. So as long as the HP Slate doesn't get shafted by Windows 7 starter or some no tablet input crap in RDC, I am pretty sure it will be sick as a full time RD client, anywhere I am.
I don't know if its the same picture, but one like that has been outside of logan airport for at least 5 years now.
Its an airline ad, no a boeing one.
[maps.google.com]
Now that Google has dramatically increased storage costs, for 50 bucks a year and GMail drive I can get 200Gigs of storage. Would this be a good alternative.
When you join google voice, There is no turning back once you set it up to be your cellphone voicemail and use your existing phone number! People are signing up for that, finding their cellphone provider doesn't offer call forwarding, and then are stuck. I made a mistake and now there is nothing I can do!!

When they say deeper intergration than an app or browser based solution, I think they are talking about intergration with your address book, or the dialer app, etc. Those things are all made with the Mojo SDK, an SDK that is in beta form. Palm could easily be expanding their SDK, or updating these apps for Google voice, just like they would update the messaging up for yahoo chat or ICQ. As far as I know too the navigation app is all web based. the only app that has native access is the Palm OS emulator app.
I actually want something like this for my Pre. Either arm or leg, so i could easily skip songs or take calls with my BT headphones while on my motorcycle. Even see the GPS info.
You can log out/in to individual IM accounts, by going to preferences selecting the account and signing in/out from there.
Tweed now has photo integration with twitpic, yfrog, and even flickr!
and GPS is only on when an App is requesting it. So it seems dumb that you would want to toggle it on or off. Most apps only poll the GPS once at start up. Tweed only does it when you want to insert your location. Otherwise I could be in Cali and it will still say Im in Mass. That one is dumb.
Not for nothing, but most of this is just bitching how you wish the Pre and WebOS had been out for 3 years and its only been 2 months. Chill Biscuit.
I did like last.fm more, and one of the reasons was that I could listen to it with Songbird. But now they charge if you dont use their website. I was using songbird. And Last.fm's selection on iPhone and Android is horrible. Pandora is a better "Radio", but last.fm is the wikipedia of music, and a social network all in one.
Cant Pandora put 15 to 30 second comericals in every 20 minutes?
