"I had experienced this gradient problem with the first aluminum iMac as well (2007). If I am not wrong, it was a very common issue, especially with the 20-inch models. I actually wrote a review about that iMac, and its screen was the most disappointing thing -- plus, they only offered the glossy option! I had the then new iMac put side by side with an old white polycarbonate 20-inch model, and the difference was mindblowing, if only because the colours on the older model screen were uniform!"
