The only reason you think that the analog stick is accurate is because the game makers have put in a ton of input smoothing and acceleration into the stick movements. Watch a pro Starcraft player play and tell me you could whip a pointer instantly across a screen and select a small clump of units with a analog stick.
The graphics requirements aren't rally changing that fast on the PC side anymore. Many games are being developed to be cross platform with consoles now and that has really slowed the graphics specs battle.
