<![CDATA[Comments from berribrand]]> <![CDATA[Comments from berribrand]]> <![CDATA[berribrand commented on Even With MGS4, PS3 Sales Flattened By The Wii]]> Seems to me if they want bigger PS3 numbers in Japan, they need to wait for things like FFXIII, not MGS4? And perhaps betting on one single game isn't a good business plan?? Perhaps?

<![CDATA[berribrand commented on Hands-Free Law, Smands-Free Law: Distracting, Dangerous and Ridiculous Things You Can Still Do While Driving]]> @nutbastard: The problem is tax payers have to pay for bad air, substance abuse treatment centers, people with head injuries from motorcycle crashes, people who get seriously injured from not wearing a seatbelt and so forth. I am not saying the current laws we have regarding things like controlled substances are perfect, but I do think laws regarding helmets are a good idea. You do not have a civil right to ride a motorcycle helmet-less. But if the state grants you the privilege, the state requires that you also wear a helmet to protect society from having to fork over millions for brain surgery in the event you fall.

Your view would make sense if it only affects you. But unfortunately, your actions have a cost to society; therefore society is a stakeholder in your actions.

<![CDATA[berribrand commented on House of Representatives Passes Bill to Protect Us from Asteroids]]> NASA's budget in 2007 was 0.58% of the federal budget. In the 1960's space race, NASA's budget was more than 5% of the federal budget. A single B-2 bomber costs $2.2 billion. The planned NASA mission to Pluto costs less than 1/3rd of a single B-2 bomber.

Do we really need to spend more on our military than the next 15 countries put together (considering many of those are US allies)? Stop bitching about pennies people. Get real.

Upon learning further about what the movie was really about, it definitely piqued my interest and now, with the amazing trailers and previews and reviews, I am definitely going to see this, maybe more than once... and certainly buying this on Blu-Ray!

<![CDATA[berribrand commented on Intel Is Skipping Windows Vista]]> @chiablo: Agreed. The loudest haters/basher/complainers are those who don't have Vista or have only used like once... back in 2007 pre-SP1. I feel sorry for all those sheep following the herd and truly missing out on the new helpful features.

<![CDATA[berribrand commented on Giz Explains: How the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Will Save the World]]> @daftfunk: There are certainly a lot of similarities between Bill's and Carnegie's foundations. I was glad to read that Bill gave a speech in Los Angeles urging businesses to get involved with improving the schools in the region. Businesses reap the benefits of the educational system (i.e., those students who do graduate from high school and ultimately from universities with degrees). It seems natural and right that businesses should also want to improve and repair the broken pieces by investing in solutions.

<![CDATA[berribrand commented on The Third Eye Brings Overhead View to Everyday Life]]> Strange. This is how people actually "remember" past events. When you think back on something you did earlier, you typically view yourself from a 3rd person perspective elevated to somewhat birds-eye level. This is also why your own memory often fools. That and the fact that your brain makes up stuff all the time (aka your blind spot).
