And people wonder why I have such a deep seated hatred of Apple. They used to be innovative, creative, and cool. Now they're part of the axis powers of the tech world. Its a shame, really.
I /really/ hope this isn't a forced update. This timeline thing is an utter clusterfuck of crap, and another unnecessary and rather useless addition. Unless you're trying to stalk someone, then they've made it even easier to find specific things.
Personal favorite has got to be "Moonlit Crystals". Being able to catch both the unique detail of ice crystals as well as a moon backdrop, it just jumps out as the best shot. Everyone did a really awesome job though, I think this challenge was the best yet.
I've hated the current UI since it was announced, and this one is ever worse. This almost makes it feel like they're trying to force their gimmicky Kinect motion controller crap down our throats. That and all the ads. Good lord, the advertisements. Its not like they don't already rob us of money every month for Gold, lets make even more revenue!
"Hey guys, look at this! Control the menus with the swipe of (various body part here)! Its the wave of the future!" Gotta hand it to M$ though, they really know how to make their fanbase dance around in anger. Granted, I'm technically counted in that group, but still.
All crappy puns aside, it just makes me livid that they're doing this, when I'm pretty sure the majority of Xbox gamers don't actually own a Kinect/want one.
Hey now, just because perspective plays a roll in things, that doesn't mean you shouldn't go out and do things that have ridiculously awesome sounding names. Crazy stuff gets you mad props.
Glass half empty, half full; its all from the outsider's point of perspective. Its admirable to be the best at something, but really its only good to gloat about it if it has some practical use in the real world.
Man, I sure feel dumb now. All this time I didn't realize games were only good for multiplayer! Damn those developers for wasting valuable time writing a story, trying to excite our imaginations! Damn the idea of free thought, mindless gameplay only! We can't have the people having fun, it might cause them to discover the ideals of self worth!
"And, sorry to say this, but Nintendo just dropped GameCube support in their new streamlined Wii models. No disrespect intended"
Wat. Really? That almost makes me not want to buy a Wii-U. Backwards compatibility is always a good way to sell consoles, and there isn't much of a reason to take it out. Except this gives me a good reason to re-hook up my Gamecube, and lessens the chances of me turning it into a toaster. Hmm. Deny GCN support, but HD Zelda, and Metroid..... Hmmmm..
Of course, I could just wait the two or 3 hours after launch for someone to have a working soft mod to play GCN games.
And I shall play it twice as hard as you. OP, 3D is a shit gimmick, and if you buy games simply for the 3D effect, then your pain is our pleasure. Please, continue to writhe and suffer, we'll keep on playing and enjoying our games.
" since I don't think of story to be an important (or very relevant) aspect of gameplay at all"
Woah, hold the phone here. Story is a VERY important part in any video game campaign. What in blue hell is running around as a character any fun when there isn't any reason behind it? Most games have story. Granted, over the years as the medium develops, the story of games tend to lose their luster, and it tends to kill the experience. But its because people have short attention spans, and they aren't the magical adventures you'd sit there hours upon hours playing anymore. At best, you get a game that's about 10 or so hours long in the campaign, and be done with it, and move on to multiplayer. IMHO, two of the best games out in terms of story on the 360 are Tales of Vesperia, and The Saboteur. Although the latter of the two games could have been expanded on a bit more in terms of the story, it was very much there and well defined, as the character had a set goal, which was to kill the man who killed his best friend. Vesperia is(SPOILERS) a tale of people who were unlikely to meet under normal circumstances, who set out to find a friend, and end up realizing their world is in danger of destruction due to their consumptive and selfish ways, and the eventual end to save the planet. Its a tale of change and understanding, and without its story, you'd have a game that would never have made it off the drawing board. Games and story go hand in hand. The story is the binding of the game, much how the spine holds a book together. Without the spine, the book is a loose collection of pages, and you aren't sure what goes where.
To sum it up:
TL;DR Games without a story can't survive unless they're solely multiplayer based.
Here's what needs to be done: >>Researching and trying to create new materials able to be used in a space elevator. >>Creating more space stations to house people, as well as ships meant for deep exploration. >>Figuring out how to create artificial gravity in space so we can have a place for people to actually work and live at the top of the elevator/stations, and ship supplies.
If we're going to be serious, we gotta go all out in trying to create the materials to make this kind of thing possible, rather than a reboot and going back to the moon. Unless we're going back to make a moon base. In which case, that's one big hell yes from me.
The thing is though, if he did do something to seriously provoke them, then why, almost a minute later, while he's filming a line of officers, suddenly one of them decide to actually shoot? That's the curious part. If he did something to cross the line, it would have happened when he did it. I can't imagine what he could have done while holding the camera.
While this is primarily a tech blog, its also ran by people who are allowed to post about what they want. As far as I'm aware, you don't run this website, nor are you in charge of any of the journalists.
"I am not debating whether digital is better than physical for gaming, just that it is better in the case of the psp.....unless of course you don't mind holding onto old consoles." Unless you're an idiot who dumps their gadgets for the next new thing, most people tend to hold onto their older gaming systems till they're absolutely irrelevant. I still have my Super Nintendo. When the N64 came out, I didn't say "Oh, the cartridges are different, I'll just get rid of this system because I can't play my games on this shiny new one", I kept the console to play the games. And even now that I can begin downloading the same games from my childhood onto the Wii, or even through roms, I still find use for the console, partially for nostalgia reasons, other because, well, nothing beats owning a physical copy.
The newer generation of gamers just doesn't understand it.
"If you go to the videogame store to buy the latest Elder Scrolls game, for example, and you end up with something else because the titles were too similar for you to tell the difference, you're going to feel screwed."
That's not the fault of the companies overstepping copyrights, its the fault of the consumer for being an idiot and not carefully checking the game cases. But of course, people will sue because of the reason that they're idiots, and claim it wasn't their fault, and it was "false advertising" or something stupid like that. Now I'm not saying its okay to make a game called Elder gods: dual for the Scrolls or something like that, but just having a game called Scrolls shouldn't be enough to confuse people. If it is, then they need to blame their comprehension skills and go back to school.
