Another amazing book on film sound, by one of the greatest film editors (Lucas' buddy Walter Murch; the only reason he didn't do Star Wars is that he was busy on Apocalypse Now):
@giantnerd: There is no spacial 'edge' to the universe. If you were to go fast enough / see far enough, you would begin to look 'into' the Big Bang itself. To reach some 'edge' of space, we would need to move through another dimension, much as the 'edge' of the earth can't be found on its surface, but rather in going 'up' (per mikeness' post below).
In the dark ages of Microsoft, pre-Windows NT and pre-optical storage, we supported our conferences by running around and installing Microsoft OS/2 as the server OS.
Swapping 14 floppies with a hard deadline is NO FUN.
Lots of people are saying that this is due to Apple's new focus on
the cloud. People, "the cloud" isn't pixie dust and fairy beans.
"The cloud" runs in racks. On 1U devices. Which Apple just
dumped.
Obviously, Apple continues to move ever further away from server,
enterprise, and open technologies. There is no great mystery here.
It has become clear that Apple wants a closed, consumer ecosystem--
to maximize profits-- and the only people who are confused are the
OS X apologists.
I guess the only question I have now is why they would so clearly
want to move away from the entertainment content-creation industry.
@ImSpartacus: Yeah, that's to be expected. There is a root for Droid 2/ Droid X 2.2 out there, but it didn't work for me, so I'm cooling my heels for a while.
@tbonesteak: It wasn't a problem for me, I didn't even unroot it. Others state problems-- it may have to do with what you've done with root.
However, problems may be due to impatience-- the phone was on the Droid eye logo for a good 5 to 10 minutes at the first post-install reboot, while it built caches and whatnot. Just be patient with it.
@JasonGW: We had some friends over for dinner last night, and we played the shit out of the Move. Frisbee Golf was pretty sweet, everyone had fun, and the system found another couple of buyers.
