I was terrified at the headline (oh, Gawker, you...) but after reading I don't think this is a bad deal. 150 Gb? I rarely reach that. And I stream a bunch of Netflix. And if I go over, only 10 bucks for 50Gb? I'm not sweating a thing.
I primarily view Giz on my iPad. The new site does not work AT ALL on my iPad. From the home page, I click on an article to read, but it only reloads the home page. I cannot access any articles.
I tried Giz on Mobile Safari, Perfect Browser, and Atomic Browser (within Atomic, I switched the user agent to a few different desktop browsers, but to no avail).
Unless you get this fixed, I'm not coming to Giz website. Because I can't read the articles! #redesign
People talk on phones with a volume louder than they'd use for normal conversation (overstatement, yes, but still a very accurate generalization). On a plane, with the background noise of the engines, people would talk louder on their phones than ever before.
I would be pissed if I had to sit next to a loud chatterbox for 3 hours. I say keep cell phone use banned for the sake of peaceful flights. I don't care about using your phone for texting or any other quiet use.
I have an iPhone and an iPad because these products work independently, and they work with each other (or at least seam to with MobileMe and App Store). I think seamless transitions between devices are just as important to the sum of their individual features.
Does anyone know how well my experience would be 'synced' between an Android phone and tablet?
The Tips Box said the other day that one can tell if they bought an app from Apple's App Store by trying to write a review. Wrong.
I bought Perfect Browser a while ago on my iPad. A few days ago, I wanted to put it on my iPhone. After searching, I clicked on the only result for Perfect Browser. Before downloading it, I decided to leave a nice review b/c I liked it so much on my iPad. The review went through. Then I proceeded to click the Buy App button assured I had already purchased it. Right after, I received an email bill from iTunes billing me for the iPhone version.
Several things are wrong here that made it appear that there was only one app to get. 1)My iPhone only showed one result in my initial search 2)After searching on my computer, I found the names and descriptions are identical for the iPad and iPhone versions 3)I was allowed to write a review for the version I did not own
Google Voice solves what was a problem a few years ago- having several, unlinked phones. Nowadays people just have a cell phone- no land lines nor direct business numbers. So why go through all this effort? For a transcribed voicemail? People aren't leaving voicemails as often either (re: text messaging).
The human right is governments can't restrict information.
It's no one's responsibility to provide Internet (though providing it is beneficial to society). Separately, governments should have no control over who can access the Internet, or what information can be accessed.
I did my civic duty tonight by watching the State of the Union and the Republican Rebuttal... I'm not, however, dignifying the Tea Party by watching their rebuttal. I guess I'm a terrorist now.
