"@SWC Oxcart: They could make a version that would be an easy (if not only slightly more ugly) version for remodel work - cut a, say, 9"x9" hole in the stud void NEXT to where the outlet is (or in the same void but next to the outlet), and wire it in to the existing box. It might still require an electrician for homeowners who aren't comfortable wiring in new plugs or switches, but wouldn't be a tough add at all."
