@fuzzybob: No *nix version, but whatever. I think the pinball museum in LV also has some kind of tournament. I'm guessing Giz is just a little centered on whatever cities they have offices.
Las Vegas also has a pinball museum. I wont link for fear of spamming. I don't think they have any videos. But their arcade is just great. I've never gotten so much entertainment out of $20.
So they have to have physical access to your hardware to 'easily' break into your box? Sounds like a non-problem. I'd be more worried about physically securing my system than setting a firmware password that I could forget.
@jspeed04: I think there's something like 550 watts/m^2 hitting the earth from the sun. (That's on a good, shiny day, I think.) The energy is there. Solar technology just isn't matured enough, yet. The incentives to invest in the tech just haven't been there for a long time. Coal and fossil fuels have and continue to be cheaper than they ought to be.
For instance, the carbon footprint mentioned above is a cost no one currently pays (in the US). The 'carbon footprint' cost of a gallon of gas, circa a couple years ago, was $12. (A better term for 'carbon footprint' cost would be 'external cost'. Essentially: The damages done to the environment (people inclusive) in monetary terms.)) Imagine how alternative energies would increase if residential energy costs included the 'carbon footprint' cost? Would anyone fill their car with gas or diesel if they both cost $12 more per gallon?
tonight's venture brothers episode realy confused me. But not the episode itself...the text adult swim put up before and after commercial breaks. Were they saying the series or 'first half of the second part of this season' is over?
I kind of wish this list weren't so heavily weighted toward smartphones. But, kudos for the effort!
How capable are wireless security cameras? Do they suck up huge amounts of bandwidth? That might be a good way to monitor your house without wiring every camera location.
I ought to set up a VNC between my laptop and desktop for controlling video playback. Editing files via ftp and ssh-ing between machines are other good uses of wifi.
I wish we in the US used the metric system. It's just easier to calculate. I doubt the US industrial complex will ever truly move off of english. Until that day, there's no real problem in working with two systems (competently).
