Hey Jesus. I was part of the pile-on in that thread that got you banned, and just wanted to follow up with some thoughts. Obviously, some lines were crossed, but you've probably heard plenty about that. I wanted to say how much I appreciate your point of view, and your willingness to take unpopular stands. I think, in general, tech journalism is critical only on a shallow level; while people are eager to trash a shitty product, they are generally unwilling or unable to take that criticism farther, to question the ways in which our increasing reliance on these companies and technologies affect our rights and our lives. Too many sites act as PR mouthpieces for the companies they cover, jockeying for access and in the process losing their independence and vitality. I may not always agree with your conclusions, but I am glad that you care enough and think enough to put them out there. Hell, someone has to stand up for us little guys, and go beyond the press releases. And hey, you can always make a Jesus Diaz 2.0 account to comment from, right? Keep doing what you do best. It's nice to have a voice that doesn't sound like all the other tech sites out there. Big up brother. xx h

I rarely agree with you and I say so in comments. I am sorry to hear about your recent banning. I hope that that is all it was because while I rarely agree with you,but I really enjoy your articles. And no one I mean no one should lose their job for comments on a blog. Anyway take the guy who banned you out for a beer get him drunk take some incriminating photos and get back to commenting. Because they were always funny to read.

http://www.apple.com/iphone/compare-iphones/ I know they were talking about talk time going up to 8 hours....seems like they were saying the battery life is improved. however....I just notice on their site....standby time has dropped by almost 100 hours!! I'm hoping it's a typo!

Is it time for Apple to have a complete refresh of their product line? Everything is just a tweak of the former product at this point. Everything since the iPhone 4 seems half assed and just to put something out. As a loyal product user, I'm craving something new. I feel its time, and with Tim Cook taking over, he needs something big under his belt to show that Apple can continue to innovate and not ride Steve's coattails. The Macbook designs are stale at this point. Personally, I'm still using the black MB from 2007 and I'd like a new laptop, but the current MacBooks should be at the end of their lifespan. It looks nice but I'm tired of the aluminum thinness. I've used them enough and there is no novelty or product envy at this point. The iPhone: 4 was something new but if we get 4S tomorrow, I'm not concerned. It makes sense so they can return to the summer cycle and not upset new Verizon customers. My issue is more so with the OS; I've realized that I've been using the same phone (in 4 different incarnations) for 4+ years. I'm not considering switching to another phone but its stale at this point. I'm looking forward to iOS 5 more than a new phone. It's a lot of needed, overdue features but its still the same thing. The iPad is just taking design cues from the MacBook and iPhone so the design and OS issues directly apply. 1 to 2 was necessary but it wasn't a huge upgrade.

Techdirt.com just responded to your troll post from last week about apple and innovation. Your total fanaticism for apple makes you short sited and unintelligent. Please stop posting your drivel about patents it is obviously a subject you know nothing about.

Hey bud. I think that the China mirage may be totally false. http://aukiman.blogspot.com/2011/06/huangshan-city-mirage-all-down-to-bad.html Just though you might want a heads up.

Hey Jesus... I think I'm officially considered a spammer now since you're the third person I'm writing at Giz about my new Kickstarter product. (In all honesty though, and no I'm not kidding, I was looking for you first because I remembered your name from another similar post but couldn't find you for some reason until I saw your name in another underlated one.)

Anyway, it's a--or rather *they* are--solid aluminum tray for the Magic Trackpad and Wireless Keyboard. Here's the link to Kickstarter...

I even used the Giz logo as an example of the CNC job we can do! :)

Lemme know what you think!

Hey whitenoise was wondering if at some point this weekend we could get a flamewar post on anything at all. Very fun. It's a... community thing!

I'm sorry, why was I banned? I think I made a perfectly reasonable comment on an article that I believed to be off topic for Gizmodo. Did I violate a rule that I was not aware of?

Avatar for mavso208

I am hoping for a response. Please explain to me how banning everyone who states their belief that the processes employed at the turkey factors losing are humane enough is justifiable. Please point where in the ban policy you retain the power to ban people because they disagree with the author of a post. Especially when they don't do it by calling the author any names, but merely stating their disagreement.

I am referring to this act of banhammering: [gizmodo.com]

You wield the power, sure. But judiciously, I think not.

I would appreciate a response to my critique on the post.

Hey Jesus. For my comment in the CIA jet thing I meant it merely in jest, poking at a conspiracy theory. Please don't get the wrong impression, I this stuff very interesting and enjoyed the article.

jesus, while i can see why you may have wanted to remove my star, i still disagree with the action. i'm not sure someone disagreeing with you warrants a star removal. while i know it is up to you, i would politely ask that you reconsider. have a great day.

Hey Jesus, I was starred then unstarred by you in my most recent comment. Just seeing what's up because it's saying I'm unstarred.

Greetings Mr. Diaz,
Sorry to bother you with something so trivial, but could you promote AdmiralPoopinpants detailed refutation [gizmodo.com] and [gizmodo.com] of carlitosrodas's slightly trollish remarks regarding Mayan history and culture on the Guatemalan sinkhole story (btw. stunning and so very disturbing, "The Gates of Hell Have Just Opened" indeed).
From carlitosrodas's other and later posts, I don't think he was motivated by anything as base as the 'pura sangre' attitude that there was nothing and nobody in the 'pre-Columbian' 'Americas' except 'widlife', but it makes me distinctly uncomfortable that something like that is sitting unchallenged and as a promoted comment on the frontpage of such a highly viewed (750,000+now) article. It's way too close to historical revisionism and holocaust denial.
It's probably too late to make any practical difference anyway, as the page had already gone from 250,000 to 650,000 views before I saw the reply (and I should have thought to ask you then, just before I went to sleep) but I still thought it was worthwhile asking you now.
Thank you in advance for your time and attention.
PS. For some reason I don't tend to comment here at gizmodo even though I view often (perhaps because I'm more of a longtime lyrical SF lurker at io9) but I wanted to say a thank you, to you, for promoting my first ever comment here last October at [gizmodo.com] , I was the one who had that photo on my wall and it was so nice to see that you (and then so many others) felt the same way about it as I did when I first saw it ... it has made it even more precious and evocative than it already was. Thank you.

Stop approving comments that disagree with your opinion. It's making it increasingly hard to hate you.
