<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on New iPod Nano Mock-up Takes the Sting Out of the New iPod Nano]]> I just figured out what I want: An iPod Nano Touch. Literally: 4/8 GBs, the size of the fatboy nano, but the everything else of an iPod Touch.

I'd lick it.

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Question of the Day: Would You Ever Consider Using a Palmtop MID?]]> I own a Samsung Q1P UMPC, which I love. I wouldn't mind if it were a little bit smaller, but then I'd pretty much be looking at a PSP (which has wifi & web browsing, sort of).

I like the form factor... the idea of a computer that I can have with me pretty much anywhere is awesome. Hopefully such devices will have a better battery life than my Q1, which, while not terrible, is not awesome.

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on AIM Finally Released for Windows Mobile]]> I have a T-Mobile Dash running a forum-made version of WinMo 6.1.

In Beta 2, I was able to connect via GPRS. With the final, I can't connect via either WiFi OR GPRS. :(

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Question of the Day: Do You Prefer an Electric or Manual Shaver?]]> I use an electric because it's faster and involves less mess (shaving cream). Specifically, I use a Norelco 8020X for it's moisturizing-goo-stuff. It gives a good shave, but it's hard to clean the blades if something gets in there (read: impossible.)

I use a Mach 3 when I want a super-close shave... like for a wedding or something.

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Question of the Day: Do You Consider Yourself a Fanboy?]]> I'm an Intel and ATI fanboy.

The latter stems from being a 3dfx fanboy -- since nvidia quenched 3dfx, I avoid nvidia when possible.

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Microsoft's Open Letter To PC Gamers, Full Of Good News]]> I love how there is no mention of either Gears of War PC or Halo 2 PC, both of which are bug-ridden piles of dog shit that Microsoft doesn't seem to care AT ALL about patching.

Yes, I am sad because of this. :( I just want to play Halo 2...

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 Goes Public Beta]]> I love my WHS and lack of x64 support has been a big pain. I'm looking forward to the final release of PP1. I tend to beta MS Software but this one feels a little different since I don't know if I have room for all of the data I've shoved over there, haha.

]]>
<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Question of the Day: Do You Actually Want a Tiny Laptop?]]> I love smaller machines. I like to have something with enough real estate and horsepower to browse the web and chat and open a PDF or whatever, but I also like that it fits in my man-purse.

I currently own a Samsung Q1 for these reasons. :D (although I guess I woudln't complain if it's res was 1024x600...)

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Blu-ray Coffee Table, Pac-Man Tabletop For Grown-ups]]> Gotta love the wallpaper image pulled from the beta versions of Vista that wasn't included in the Final... hahaha.

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Question of the Day: How Much Was Your Electricity Bill Last Month?]]> My bill was $48.60 for April here in Longmont, CO. As for always-on things:

2 Computers (mine and a Windows Home Server)
1 small fishtank (~20 Gal, I think)
Fridge

My hot water heater and home heat are both gas. I don't have AC in my house, but I do have an evaporative cooler. Speaking of, I better fire that guy up, it's starting to get warm...

The white one is here: [www.newegg.com]

The black one is here: [www.newegg.com]

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Question of the Day: How Many iPods Have You Owned?]]> Three:

I had a 2nd Gen 10 GB that I dropped and it stopped working.

I had a 3rd Gen 30 GB that I still love dearly and whose interface I completely miss.

I now use a 4th gen 60 GB that was sold to me relatively cheap by a friend. It fits my music collection better, even if it is pretty thick.

Similar to LittlestLamshi, I use my PSP when my iPod is indisposed for whatever reason. I also use it for Podcasts since I hate iTunes and getting songs on/off the iPod can be a pain.

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Western Digital Velociraptor Is New "Fastest Hard Drive Ever"]]> I totally want a pair of these. I have a pair of 74 GB Raptors in RAID 0 at home, but I'm starting to run out of space. A 600 GB RAID 0 sounds like fun. :3

Although I wonder how they would handle being right next to each other in my case... Maybe I need a new case. :(

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on G10IL Takes on the Eee PC: Is it Getting Crowded in Here?]]> Cool looking design from the picture... but the Intel Atom processor isn't really all that great from what I've been reading so far. By all accounts, it should be not much better (possibly even worse) than the A110 and I'm not a big fan of that. Let's see some Core Solos here! I guess that's for a different market, though.

How big are the drives? Hopefully the Linux OS will be okay, too. At this point, though, I still think I'd get an EEE.

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Apple TV vs. Vudu vs. Xbox 360: Video Download Battlemodo]]> Xbox 360. MCE Integration is hot also it has "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" available. I now prefer to watch my TV for $2/episode, legally and without commercials. Now, if only it were in HD...

Not only do you get a free song (which you may or may not like -- I found the ones I got enjoyable enough once I ripped the DRM out of them), but the card itself makes a great bookmark!

Maybe that's another way aroun dthe patent: "We're not giving away cards, we're giving away bookmarks."

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Question of the Day: What Don't You Like About Vista?]]> I actually really do like Vista. I've been using it since the early beta days and I think it's a nice looking product that is organized well once you get used to it.

That all being said, the one thing that drives me GODDAMNED BATSHIT INSANE is that folders don't remember their view preferences. Or, if you go into the folder view dialogue and say "view every folder like this one forever until the end of time" -- which used to work beautifully in XP -- Vista will often give you a folder view based on what it thinks is best for you. It's bullshit and stupid and god damn all I want is for all of my folders to be in list view.

*takes a deep breath*

Other than that, I find it perfectly usable.

]]>
<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on HTC TouchFlo 2.0 Leaked, Covers Up Windows Mobile Even Better?]]> I installed this on my HTC Universal for shits and giggles.

One, the interface looks GREAT since it's all VGA. I love PointUI, but it has pretty piss-poor VGA support.

Two, all the rendering has to be done in software, so I was pulling a BLAZING 1.3 frames per second. Presumably this is a release for phones not yet extant that have Imageon processors in them or something.

Three, still very early beta.

Four, no landscape mode.

Five, it's fun, but back to Point UI for me.

<![CDATA[jrronimo commented on Question of the Day: Do You Care if a Company is "Green" When it Comes to Gadgets?]]> I care about the environment, so I like the idea of green gadgets. But if a gadget that is not green is a better fit for me, then I would go with that.

I guess this is a +1 for "Yes, but Greenpeace are nobs."

@Durden000021: I voted other because I didn't exactly agree with either statement enough to commit myself to it, but I wanted to explain, which I have done.
