<![CDATA[Comments from misterwho]]> <![CDATA[Comments from misterwho]]> <![CDATA[misterwho commented on Computers Screw Stock Market Even More Than It's Already Screwed]]> I can imagine a scenario where, in better times, a company hires a financial model guru to write programs to buy stocks under certain conditions. Then when the economy goes bad they fire him, not knowing they are about to buy up a couple million shares of a failing bank.

<![CDATA[misterwho commented on Woz: iPod to Die Soon]]> While the iPod may have reached it's prime, I don't believe it's ready to keel over just yet. Apple has created a category for itself, so much that the term "iPod" is thrown around much more than the term "mp3 player" these days.

There are many PMPs out there that do so much more than the iPod (i.e., FM radio, voice record, native support for multiple formats...) and yet fail to make an impact in the market. Apple's ability to reach the common man is what put them ahead. If they keep their products idiot proof, then they'll be going strong for years to come.

<![CDATA[misterwho commented on How to Buy Gadgets in China And Not Get Screwed]]> What a great article followed by a bunch of crappy comments!

It's good to know that folks in China who want good brands, but don't have the money, can find a legal way to work it out. For some haggling is a necessary evil. For others it's the most fun part of shopping.

-Tom dies in the shower of falling glass.

-His final thought: "Can't we all just get Alongo?"

<![CDATA[misterwho commented on China Launch Success Hits Web Hours Before Actual Blast-Off]]> Makes me glad to live in the good old US of A, where officials are always upfront and truthful to us citizens. If I had to live in a country plagued by cover-ups, lies and corruption I don't know what I would do.

By the way, I heard Venezuela has weapons of mass destruction. We need to go there for the sake of democracy? Hoorah!

<![CDATA[misterwho commented on T-Mobile G1 User's Guide Leaked: 40 Shots of Scrambled UI]]> Gizmodo is stepping up it's hating game. If only I could go back in time and recover the six hours I stood in that friggin line to get the iPhone. I call it "the iPhone" and not "my iPhone" because Steve Jobs & co. have more say on what I can use it for than I do.

Of course, I need a hands on before I can say anything positive about Android beyond overall approval of the concept.

When my contract expires (what is that, two years? dang!) I really think this is the route I will be taking. By then some really nice skinning apps should be available for a wide variety of Android phones.

I, like most Gizmodo readers, am at least somewhat technically inclined. I doubt that learning the ins and outs of this OS will be all that challenging. Stop being such drama queens.

]]>
<![CDATA[misterwho commented on Question of the Day: Have You Changed Your Mind About Android and the G1?]]> Google shouldn't have relied so heavily on outside developers for to bolster the look and feel of their UI. As has been proven by the original RAZR and the iPhone, America and most of the world values good looks over functionality. Apple hit a sweet spot by making a beautiful phone that does most of what a majority of people want.

<![CDATA[misterwho commented on HTC Touch HD Gets Fondled in French Video (Oh La La)]]> Please stop throwing around the term iPhone killer. My iPhone is great and all, but it can't/won't do tons of things. Here are a few:

-Play video files in their native formats (no apps like Coreplayer).
-Record video (natively)
-Store files (natively, though some interesting apps are out, they have major hurdles to clear)
-Edit documents
-Copy, cut/paste

This is all I can think of for now. All these you can do with Window Mobile and even the ancient Palm OS without any jailbreaks or similar hacks.

WinMo phones should be respected for their functionality, while the iPhone earns it's kudos in design.
