I agree with the first part of what you're saying. Why go backwards? Especially with Tim Cook in charge now - maybe he'll understand that it's an option people want.
We're doing surf & turf. Not eating until tonight I'm so amped. #whitenoise
Well the best way to keep spam off the site is to not approve it. If it's pink, leave it be. Don't reply - don't try to mark it as spam - just ignore it and eventually one of us will see it. The burden lies mainly with the star commenters as you're the only ones that can see them. However, if you ever feel like reporting something, just email or post in trollpatrol which article has the spam comment in it. #spam
Steve Jobs was adored by the recording industry. He got people to pay for music via iTunes vs using Kazaa or Napster.
Lots of people didn't know - plus it's Grammy night (thus relevant).
No offense! But you're not exactly an oldie (especially compared to those 2).
If you want to report something, copy the timestamp (link) and post it in #trollpatrol.
Adding trollpatrol to your comment doesn't mark it in trollpatrol. It only happens if you're the first person posting a comment. But thanks for trying!
Do you mean the ironing is delicious?
He was banned ages ago.
Thanks. I'll send this to tech.
I would love to see a Bobby Digital action figure, but I'll settle for the RZA G.I. Joe one.
You never got your star back after the reset?
Not even close to my shit list. Just the Joel thing that made it happen.
What was your commenter name on your last account? And can you email me? tony at gawker dot com
Possibly. I'm not trying to start a guessing game or call anyone out. Everyone knows him and they know he's a troll.
Definitely not you. Although you (and I) were on a short list with him once upon a time in a post.
I read about 75% of the comments. I keep a window in my dock with at least 10 Gizmodo tabs open at a time. Even if they're a week old, I refresh and read when I have the time.

I know who the worst commenter is. However, he's also a decent contributor once in awhile. Knowledgeable on many topics, but sometimes condescending and crass. He has been around forever, which seems to make his comment-tenure here a bit questionable. Legacy users get preferential treatment, but where is the line?

I am guilty of looking away as well, for the reason stated above and due to my own personal rationale. I will not name the commenter (he'd screech bias anyway), but the people who've been around this site for a bit know who I speak of - as do most editors.

This is the one and only time I will do this. Please, please don't make me regret it!
